I've been using an aspire nautilus for years. Really like it, obviously, since I've used it right along. The last month or so, every time I refill the tank, it tastes burnt. I thought maybe it was time for a new set up so I bought a new one. Same thing. Then I thought, maybe it's my battery, bought a different one...same thing again. Nothing has changed, same atomizers, same ejuice, same way of replacing juice and atomizers. Literally doing NOTHING different. Anyone have any ideas here? I can't be replacing atomizers daily. :'(

Sorry - as a long term Nautilus user I've never had this problem (yet) so I can't help.

I will watch this thread with great interest though, in case this crops up with any of mine, and I hope you get a solution.
Me too..it's the darnedest thing. I tried switching to something else but I REALLY like this tank for flavor and draw sigh

I haven't had an Aspire Nautilus tank in years. As I recall it was a nice MTL vape with real good flavor.

You said every time you refill it tastes burnt. Just wondering have you changed the coil? Sorry if I missed that.

From what I remember when I got a burnt taste I just popped in a new coil and all was well.

What wattage are you vaping at?

I ended up giving mine away to someone who was just getting started with vaping and they are still using it and very happy with it.

Yup every time I replace it it's fine, til I refill.

17.6w is way too high for the 1.6Ω & 1.8Ω BVCs.
Aspire recommended range;
1.8Ω - 10w - 14w
1.6Ω - 7w - 11w
.7Ω - 18w - 23w
All tend to scorch / burn wicking at the higher side of the recommended power ranges.

I'd lean towards the difference between actual output accuracy of the different power devices.
The istick 50 is known for several issues including output inaccuracies.

You are checking the scratch off security code on the box of replacements heads using Aspires authentication code checker on their site?
If it says code has already been checked even once they are counterfeit.

And, it is very important to properly prime new heads before use by dripping drops on top of the screen inside & allowing them to soak in until wicking material is fully saturated.
Always best to start a new head off at a lower power to prevent scorching / burning the wicking, raise power over the at least first half tank preferably the first full tank, to ensure they're wicking properly.

I know from experience even a fully primed new/unused 1.6Ω or 1.8Ω head will scorch / burn / be permanently damaged by zapping it with 17w.

So strange because like I said, I haven't changed anything but I'll try it at a lower wattage :)
Appreciate the advice for sure! I had no idea the istick had issues sigh. Any recommendations? :) TIA!

Not trying to be rude, you haven't answered some of the question asked by folks trying to help.

Which resistance / Ω replacement atomizer heads are you using?
It is printed on the body of each head and should show Ω on your power devices display screen.

Confirmed authentic heads?
Are you checking the scratch off security code on the box of replacements heads using Aspires authentication code checker on their website?
If it says code has already been checked even once they are counterfeit.

It isn't strange if your older power device was actually outputting 10w even though the display screen showed 17.6w, now your new one might be outputting correctly or it might be just as inaccurate. Could be inaccurate in the opposite direction also, screen showing 10w actually providing 16w to the delivery device/nautilus.

Always start a new fully primed head off at a low power setting, for example
8.8w -9w using the 1.8Ω,
7w - 7.2w using the 1.6Ω,
15w using the .7Ω.
Gradually adjust power up taking a vape or three on each setting over at least the first half tank.

I still have a couple of isticks in regular service with 3 and a half years behind them; they've never given me trouble but mine are the 30w variety.

I use the 1.6 or 1.8 coils interchangeably as I can't find much difference between them and take whatever the shop has, but I rarely go above 8 watts with them. I'm an old school MTL guy still using 16 to 18 strength liquid though.

I'd agree turning down the power might help; personally I have never primed a new Nautilus coil, I just fill the tank and leave it for about 20 minutes and it works fine.

I'm so sorry, like I said before, I"m not really up on the correct verbiage and where to find some of the info that was asked so I thought I was providing it...thank YOU for telling me where to look.

1.8 on the resistance (boy that was some TINY lettering)

Confirmed yes, via the website. I had some older ones once that I checked and they were confirmed counterfit checked over 1k times each. (hate scammers sigh) but these last 2 boxes are authentic. codes never checked on them.

I just put in a new one and following your advice at 8.8 with 3 vapes before powering up.

Again, sorry for not answering everyone appropriately ...I do appreciate the help so very much :)

Thank you, I"m trying just that. :) I'm at 0mg so it's truly just a hand to mouth issue for me hehe and I really enjoy it.

I've used those tanks for years and not had that problem. Maybe you have a problem with a gasket. Maybe the seal around the positive pin. Not sure how that could cause burning though. Or a problem with the mod. Have you had a chance to try it on a different mod?

Like other people said 17W seems way too high to me.

Yes, and on a whim, I just grabbed my husband's mod, he keeps his at @8 and it was just like if I had mine on 17 ugh Luckily he has a new one that I'm stealing from him lol

YOU GUYS ROCK!

Hmmm. If you are just refilling the tank, the remaining juice in the tank might be causing the burnt taste. Not all of the juice is vaporized and the remaining e-liquid in the tank may have contaminants that make it taste burnt. The sugars in e-liquid can carmalize (another name for burning). Just adding fresh e-liquid to what remains in the tank will also become contaminated.

You might need to empty the tank with each refill. Empty your tanks and clean them prior to each coil change.

I know this sounds a little extreme, but give it a try.
