So I am looking to start vaping and need advice on the best product to use. I have looked at probably 20 or more websites and products and am unadle to make a decision for what might be best for me so I found the forum and have been reading here and thought maybe somebody could help me. I am looking to replace analogs completely and currently smoke 2 packs a day of marlboro lights(cannot smoke another brand, hate the taste) I thought maybe it would help to have something that more closely resembled a cig to start with but the things I have heard about the smaller products have been mixed at best. I would like to find out the best place to order and the best PV to buy to get me started. I will just list the things that I am wanting from one the most and maybe somebody can help.

PV- I would like it to be fairly simple to use with a decent battery life, prefer it to be close in size to reg. cig, fairly easy to add liquid to, don't want something I may have to modify later on....

Liquid-looking for something to closely resemble the taste of a marlboro- preferably VG...

Thats about it, I have read other posts on here and everyone seems to know so much about vaping and I guess starting off I am just feeling a little overwhelmed. I plan to also purchase one for my hubby who is an even heavier smoker than me and will not stick with it if its to much of a hassle for him. I hope maybe someone has some info that can help. I would really appreciate it.

the simplest product i know of is the one i use, the kr8. the cartos hold 1ml of liquid, so they need refilling less often. refilling is a little work, but the cartos come in packs of 5 and you can save them to refill later as you get the hang of stuff. check out vapor4life.com. that's just my honest recommendation for someone who is confused and "over it" when it comes to research. <3 they've got a great sale going on this weekend, too, valentine21 is the promo code; 21% off most stuff (not kits, but cartos, so you can get a few extra samplers of flavors).

btw--you're not going to find something that really closely resembles a burning cig--but vapor4life has a tobacco sampler pack which has 5 diff flavors of tobacco to try. i've heard good things about their "cowboy." they also have all VG juices/cartos... if you haven't vaped yet, though, you might want to try PG... it's only a small percentage of people who react badly to it.

with the kr808d-1 (that's the vaporking from vapor4life that i'm referring to) you just take the carto out of the box, screw it on the battery, and vape. later you can deal with refilling cartos and so forth (it's not hard) but at first, you'll want to test out a bunch of flavors and i recommend getting them prefilled so it's less stress when starting. you can save them and wash them out when you feel up to experimenting.

First of all welcome to the forum. Most new users do best with a 510 or KR808D, I myself prefer the 510. When you purchase get a starter kit, a couple extra batteries and atomizers (sometimes you're better of getting 2 starter kits) along with ejuice. As for which flavor and nic level juice you should go with it is very subjective thing, I recommend starting with the med (11mg).
Check out the suppliers section of the forum ECF Approved Suppliers - E-Cigarette Forum
Best of luck

I went with a 510 from cignot (Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.) cos it was cheap ($35 for 2 PV and charger) and I wanted to see if I liked it first before spending heaps.
Cigeasy (Electronic Cigarettes from Cigeasy - Home of the Easy E-Cigarette) have a similar priced deal on KR8s atm as well I believe.
You think you want something that LOOKS like a cig but trust me you relaly don't. What you want is something that WORKS
My 510 looks a bit like a black pilot pen or a black sharpie (gives you an idea of size), anything cig size won't be good value for money as it won't hold hardly any juice (the stuff we vape on) and have no battery life to speak of (and that's coming from a 510 user, where the batteries need to be re-charged often unless, like me you get a PT you can use in a plug in the wall USB/AC plug).
Go have a look in the ECF Library Thread and read al about the differnt types of PV you can buy. Start off with the easiest one you like the look of and don't pay a bundle getting your first one. Chances are you'll want to experiment with hardware once you get into it anyway.
Note: none of the juices will taste 'just like a cigarette'. You may find one that tastes 'a bit like tobacco' but again chances are that you won't want that after a while as there are SO many better tastes to vape :D
Welcome to the forums and happy researching!

I was where you are until about 24 hours ago... after much thought and good advise, I went with the kr8 from V4L... I went back and forth between the KR808D-1/V4L and the 510 a hundred times in a few days... I should have my KR8 by Mon or Tues... other than the folks on this forum, I found youtube videos of people vaping and talking about it useful... I also found it helpful to go to forums here dedicated to the brand of e-cig or sellers...

As others have mentioned, most people here seem to start with either a 510 starter kit (Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.) or a kr808 starter kit (Vapor4Life:: Because it's your life :: Electronic Cigarettes & Alternatives to Smoking). Everyone has his own favorite. The 510 is a three piece device: battery (batt), atomizer (atty), and cartridge (cart). The kr808 is a two piece device: battery and cartomizer (carto). Cartos combine the atty and cart into one piece.

I went the 510 route, albeit with the eGo (a 510 with a super long battery life) rather than the regular 510 starter kit. I don't necessarily regret my choice because the batteries on this thing are awesome. However, I'm less enthused about the 510 atty and cartridges. I've personally had many issues with them. It's possible that eventually I can work through these issues, but in the meantime, I'm often smoking even when I'd prefer to be vaping because of the frustration level involved. (And I'm currently waiting for cartos to use with the adapter I just got.)

For that reason, I recommend the kr808 with the cartos. Some people don't like cartos and really prefer the 510 setup, and you may be one of those people. But cartos will give you simplicity in the beginning, and you can always try a 510 later if the cartos aren't quite doing it for you.

OK I think I have decided to go with the KR8 .....My next question is are all the extras really needed with this? I went to the cig easy website and they offer it alot cheaper, of course without all the bells and whistles lol. My question is, how useful are all the extras and how often so you really use them. I am looking at the kit from vaperking that has the PCC and all the other things with it. I am so sorry to ask so many questions, but I am so glad you guys are so helpful, I would have started to pull my hair out by tonight I'm sure.....

I started with the 510 (from cignot) but I got the kit with the PCC. I'd read enough to know that the one complaint about the 510 is the short battery life.

Heavy smoker = heavy vaper - was my thinking, and I was right. I'm a heavy vaper.

I found it very simple to refill, and ordered a bunch of back-ups. The PCC is great because you can take it anywhere and always have a fully charged battery on rotation.
The charge on the PCC has lasted me over 24 hours.

I just upgraded to the Tornado. I love it. I am getting 8+ hours on a single battery!
It's a really sleek looking unit and very comfortable to hold and handle.

I don't regret starting with a 510 at all. I don't think I would have wanted to invest in the Tornado not knowing if I'd even like vaping... turns out I love it, and was able to completely quit smoking the first day I started vaping.

I have to agree with CaptJay. What you think will work for you now, isn't necessarily going to be the case once you realize that vaping is a great alternative to smoking, but it's not smoking. There is no e-liquid that will exactly replicate whatever brand you smoked.

That said - I think you will realize that it's much more pleasurable, and satisfying - plus, it's a lot of fun. Hanging out on the boards here with all these amazing people is a huge bonus that I didn't expect :)

Good Luck in whatever you decide and congrats on your decision to give vaping a try! I think you'll be happy you did :)

yup, keyzy's got ya covered--honestly i wouldn't even try to get liquids yet, for the very first order (i did, but then i was making another order immediately... so i coulda waited)... i'd go all out on sampler packs of prefilleds. :D & with the XL or even the regular length batteries, battery life (as far as how many hours) shouldn't be too big an issue at all... just get more than one, and get a charger. ;)

Former pack a day Marlboro Light smoker here. I also couldn't stand the taste of any other cigs. I use Ecopure Regular (it's VG based) and I love it...I can't vape anything else. I would recommend the 510 and if you get it from Cignot it will come with a PCC so your batteries will always be charged. Welcome to the forum!

Edit:
I vape 24mg and as a former pack a day smoker it's perfect for me. I would recommend starting with 24 or maybe even 36mg (I'm not a doctor) since you're a two pack a day smoker.

I concur with Belletrist and keyzygirl, but also suggest putting a request for a juice sample in the comment section at the bottom of your order. There are many to choose from, and it is not hard to drip if you find the right clip to remove the white end cap off the mouthpiece. There is tons of support on the V4L forum, great people and great advice. When you look at the vendor forum you will note that there are way more people online at the V4L page than for any other vendor, and you have a virtual 24/7 online user support group at your fingertips!

The coupon did not work on the kits when I bought mine yesterday... I got the ultimate kit $89.00 and the 21% coupon worked on the extra XL battery and the carts... still saved me $20.00 -

The Valentines sale does not include kits due to the high dollar value, but will work on carts, batts and juice. You can use the standard 10% off coupon code by typing in "smilin", but I don't think you can use more that one coupon code per order. Depending on the cost however, it might be cheaper to just use the smilin code if you are getting a kit plus accessories as it will apply to everything in the order. Good luck!:)
