OK. I know. It takes time to adapt. But Geeze Louise! If the batteries aren't going dead, the atty needs blowing out , or the prefilled cartridges are going dry! One of these %#@!* batteries only lasts an hour and a half! (of not very heavy vaping, either) (using the 510)

I NEED for this to work: I have early stage COPD from 40 years of smoking, so I'm not giving up yet, no matter how much I feel like throwing all this paraphenalia right out the nearest window! I've ordered some fluids: maybe that will help, but seriously, do these batteries usually go dead that often?!

(Thanks for letting me vent about not being able to vape enough!)

Welcome scribe! I'm so sorry you are having so many problems. The 510 is a great piece of equipment but the batteries do run out too soon for me. I invested in the eGo and the battery life of that rocks. I've gone as long as 10-12 hours with one battery. That makes it really easy because you already have your other battery charged, you swap and you are back in business for another 10 hours or so.

I find that I prefer to drip but you might like cartomizers. I can't speak about those as I've never been able to try them, but you are in the right place for sure.

Maybe a higher voltage mod, again, you are in the right place for that kind of guidance.

Again, welcome and I truly hope you get this figured out where you are happy and on the way to being healthier!!

Forty years ago you had to 'learn' how to smoke, this to involves a learning curve. I think everyone adapts at their own pace for sure. I'd also say that most upgrade their equipment pretty quickly. Thirty days of poor performing 510 batteries were enough for me and I moved on to mods [Chuck, BSB, GGTS] and better performing alternatives such as the Tornado/Ego.
Invest in a couple of alternatives such as those I've listed above, try some drip tips or 510 cartos and your chances for success and enjoyment should improve.
Best of luck!

First, congrats on your decision to switch to e-cigs. Now, take a breath and relax ;) I know it's hard when you just want the stinkin' thing to work. A 510 batt only lasts about an hour or 2 like mentioned above go to Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. to pick up a couple of ego batts. All your other stuff will work on it. Have you tried to direct drip? It solves all the cart problems if you have manual batts. If you have autos get some ego manuals ordered asap :)

Direct dripping is easy. (MUST HAVE MANUAL BATT)
1. blow all the yucky stuff out of the atty
2. take ALL filling out of cartridge
3. put 2-3 drops of juice on top of the bridge (it's the part that sticks up in the atty)
4. replace emptied cart and presto now you can get about 4 good hits

Just add a few drops to the atty when the taste changes. If you like this method, you can always get a drip tip so you don't have to remove and replace the cart each time you drip.

Good luck!

Well, you're getting longer between time between charges than I did when I first started. The on charging didn't have a chance to charge all the way up before the fresh one was out.

High nic juice might help. A more satisfying flavor could also help.

A big battery mod and extra standard batteries was my solution. Now it would take a large scale disaster to keep me from vaping.

Breathe.

I also didn't try to stop smoking the minute it arrived. That method didn't work for me. Had to wean off the cigs.

Im sorry your having a hard time,I switched to cartomizers and stronger batteries when I got annoyed with it all.It takes some time to find the right stuff.DONT GIVE UP!!!!

What keyzygirl said! And I use 510 cartomizers (a new one will hold up to 40 drops of your favorite liquid :) ) And make sure I have lots of charged batteries and also got a little 3.7v box mod that lasts all day if I don't feel like messing with the standard batteries. I'm much happier with this set up and have stopped pulling out my hair in frustration. :)

The 'Burgh
Is a "mod" mainly a bigger device with stronger batteries?

Thanks all for the encouragement: today I need it!

"Mod" is any homemade / handmade e-cig. Ususally the mod is targeted at a specific purpose, for example, the JuiceBox is targeted primarily at eliminating the need to constantly refill / change cartridges, the 5V mod is targeted at increasing the vapor output of the atomizer, and the many forms of battery mods are targeted primarily at longer battery life.

I can personally recommend:
The Chuck - Holds an 18650 battery, which lets you vape for about two days between charges
The GGTS - Holds many battery configurations, including the 18650, all mechanical, so there's nothing to break, 4 way connector lets you use 4 different types of atomizer (including the 510)
The Bartleby - small box mod with the huge advantage that it will run as a USB passthrough, so you can charge as you are vaping.

I also would recommend that you try a drip tip, (basically a tube extension for the atomizer), which eliminates the need for a cartridge by letting drip liquid into the atomizer directly. It works better than you would think, and you never have to worry about changing carts, just keep a dripper bottle handy.

My current personal configuration is the GGTS with the AFS 2.0 (automatic feed system). It holds about 9 ml of juice in a tank that constantly fills the atomizer as you vape, and has an adjustable control ring that lets you control the draw. Pricing is pretty high end on it, though.

A note on cost: If you spend $100 up front on a high quality battery mod, you will reap the long term benefit of not having to charge batteries all of the time, plus the batteries are a heck of a lot cheaper in the long run.

Good luck with your choices.

Scribe, don't let the word "mods" scare you. eCigarette-Mods.com - The Ultimate e-Cig Mod Database

Pv's are alot like cars....some are just more desired than others.

I, like you, found the 510 (180) experience to be truly unsatisfying. You are in the same boat as alot of us, spent alot of time and money on equipment we now regret. Just chalk it up to lesson learned and start your hunt for the most satisfying vape.

I would be inclined to steer you towards the eGo so that you can still use all of the 510 parts you already have, except the charger or pcc. You can use your 510 charger with the eGo with an adaptor or just purchase an eGo charger.

Batt - $20-25
adaptor - $2-4
eGo charger - @$8

The ego should help. Your atty's will work with it. Mine will last me most of the day. I go back and forth between dripping and using the cart's with various mods. I haven't found a cartomizer I like yet, but many do like them. I don't seem to get much vapor of flavor from them.

Most mods can work with the 510 atty's. I haven't had an atty go bad yet, but I'm sure I will. Just make sure you keep them wet but not too wet. It's a fine line sometimes, but after a while you get a feel for it. I'm comfortable with it, but I've only been vaping a month or so. I still get them a bit too wet and get some leakage at times and sometimes I get that burnt flavor that indicates it's too dry, but if you recognize those and make the subtle corrections, you'll be fine.

One of my first Mods was the Chuck at 3.7v vaping. The battery lasts a couple of days in it. I quit Nov 1, of 2009 and have found out this past month I have COPD. My pulmonologist (sp?) has given me the go-ahead with the vaping.

The GGs ,as mentioned above, seem to be the premier made and if they are built the
way people say; you have made a long, long term investment. My next will be the
GG super slim mod with the dripping tip on it when funds allow.

I have the SB, the BB and a GLV. My go to is usually the Silver Bullet. Several hours on 6v vaping with two 3v batteries. I also have 4 510s and know what you mean about battery life. First users as myself want the cigarette looking type, then drop it for longer battery life, and dependability. My advise, go for something that will last a long time with
several different attys, juice and several batteries with the charger. Good luck
with the vaping; i could breath easier within a very short time. Best of luck to you!
