So you use cotton-yarn keonee? I've been wanting to try that myself on my builds, would make things easier. I use cotton balls now (from a local grocery store), don't boil them at all, and I love the flavor.

When I build a new coil or put a new cotton wick in, I put a drop of juice on each side of the cotton, and a nice sized drop right on-top of the coil also, before I put the chimney back on. Than I fill my tank, dry-pull it a good few times, and let it sit and soak for at least 10 minutes

Are you torching the coil before wicking it to burn off the machining contaminates? Also, in my experience 28 and 30 gauge are difficult for an ego type battery to fire very well. I use 32 gauge on 1/16 drill bit with cotton and it is a beast. As I said in another thread, one of my favorite vapes. I don't boil my cotton and it can take a ml or 2 before the cottony flavor goes away. And before anyone chimes in, I'm sure there is someone out there using 0 gauge on an ego twist and it works perfect. Lol. Just said in MY experience. YMMV. No offense to anyone.

It doesn't wick as well or taste as good as cotton balls.

ok so I boiled some cotton with distilled water for 20 mins then changed the water with new water and boiled them again for another 20 mins. then I've made new coil 32g 5/4 wraps, and torched it. I got 1.8,then took small amount of cotton and made smaller wick so it went easily inside the coil. put some juice on the wick and let it soak for 10 mins before I put the tank and start vaping.
result: taste is slightly better, but by that I mean that plastic taste is less than before BUT It's still there! still can't taste the juice or any sweet taste. I decided to keep vaping with that coil and see if it will get any better. here is a picture of the setup

Try 30 gauge and build a micro coil.
yes I think ill get the 30 for the micro. 28g is a little big for protank head

Did you pulse fire the coil before wicking to make sure there were no hot spots? Hot spots on the coil can make for a crappy tasting vape.

I did fire the coil and it looked good. started from the middle and went to end.

I do 28 gauge, 11 wrap, 1/16 drill bit, micro coil = approx. 1.5 ohms vape at 8 watts, for pro tanks/evods - works great for me - Rip Trippers does the 12 wraps same build for pro tank. I like a little more room as I am no Trippers.

I simplified to 28 gauge for all my builds - evods to kayfun's - higher the gauge the more durable the wire and easier for me to wrap tight micro coils. Time I hit the button to time to my mouth it is ready to go.
