I am new to vaping obviously.I started out by ordering the Joye 510 starter kit and some E juice. It was an adequate substitution.I upgraded to the Ego in search of more flavor and better vapor.I also ordered 510 atomizers and 510 cartomizers and Ego cartomizers and 2 Cisco LR 306 atomizers and a drip tip.I ordered the atomizers and cartomizers from several different suppliers to compare.I also ordered E juice from multiple manufactures and received several samples from the hardware suppliers.I also ordered various pg/vg mixes from 50/50 to 80/20 30/70 etc..Each E juice was steeped using the following method:agitate, then cap off for 24-48 hrs, then let stand for 1-2 weeks with Occasional agitation until the E juice flavor meets the bottles description and is vapeable, then it gets put in to rotation.I generally purchase 30 ml bottles.
This is what's frustrating, after about 10 mls have been vaporized the flavor and characteristics of the juice changes. The flavor is less apparent and dissipates before the e liquid is vaporized,or the flavor begins to taste awful with less vapor production, then I still have 20ml of this liquid. What am I doing wrong?I always shake the juice before its used.
I've tried switching cartomizers, atomizers with similar results. It's been hard to isolate the problem because the hardware quality varies as well as the consistency of the flavors and how powered up the PV is.
I can't be the only one who's had this problem.I would be interested in hearing about your experiences or solutions.I got way to much money invested in juices es and hardware to give up.
So my questions are,is it a hardware issue or a liquid issue,if it's liquid am I doing something wrong,if so what is it,if not can they be fixed, and how?,if its hardware can you suggest a suitable replacement.
I would just like to have a reliable Pv with a consistent quality juice!

It might be just your taste buds. I've run into this problem and I have read of others loosing the taste too. I smell the juice and it smells delicious, but the taste is nothing like the smell. At first it tasted great, but then I loose it, even after using new cartos and attys. I know the juice is steeped but it is pretty much the same. It hasn't changed that drastic, the smell is exactly the same. I just think the taste buds get coated with PG, VG or flavorings. I try to rotate different e-liquids, and it seems to help. I eventually get the taste back again. But not sure of what method to use to do that, it just happens.

Thoughts...

Are you ever cleaning your attys and carts?
Do you shake the ejuice well before each use?

Do you make sure to let some vapor waft near your nose? The tongue can only taste sweet, salty, bitter, sour, and savory. All other taste clues come from aroma. I find I need to make a conscious effort sometimes to let some vapor escape my mouth so I can smell it. Cigarettes do that for you because they smoke all of the time.

I find I get used to a flavor/aroma even later in the same day and sometimes have to switch for a while. Then when I come back to the first juice I can smell it again.

If you are drinking alcohol it can numb your taste buds, so some people use stronger flavors when drinking.

It could be that the wick material is being burnt up in your atomizers. I usually vape my juice as soon as I receive it, only one juice I noticed that started to smell slightly different was around a month old.

I usually take my attys out of the rotation after 2/3 weeks as I start to get a horrible burnt taste, which I think is the wick burning on the coil. Try searching for a tut on how to remove the wick and see if that helps at all.

I think we all go through phases where juice loses its' taste. It's especially noticeable when you first start vaping. If you're still smoking analogs on top of vaping that won't help things, either. It's not the fault of your juice, the PV or the atomizer (unless it's so gunked up that you can hardly vape with it.) You can also seem to lose the taste if you're vaping the same juice all the time. Your taste buds become used to it, so it seems to stop having any taste.

It can take some time for your sense of smell and taste to recover and the two go hand-in-hand. Once they recover, you should be able to start tasting again. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water and change out your flavors once in a while. Keep vaping and it will get better. I promise.

I'm not saying it's not the juice but I went through a similar thing about three weeks ago. I hit a period of five or six days where all my juices seemed to have an off taste to them. It turned out to be my taste buds. But do take a look at the few strands of wicking material in your attys. They won't burn but they do gunk up and refuse to clean properly. If they look black, do a search on utube for a video on how to remove them. Also, for what it's worth, I find the E2 R4 cartos to be very 'chean' tasting. I got mine from Mad Vapes. If you do decide to try those, make sure they're R4s, because some of the vendors have the R3s still in stock. That's about all I can think of. If you would want to try some different juices there is a thread here about a five dollar sampler - might be a fairly inexpensive way to find out one way or the other. Later, JD

Remember how when you smoked and everyone could smell the smoke on you, but you couldn't smell it yourself. You just became so accustomed to the smell that you didn't notice it. I think it's the same way with tasting the flavor of your juices. If you vape the same flavor long enough, you just get so accustomed to the taste that you can't taste it any more. I have found that rotating my flavors out has helped.

I seem to be having a similar issue. I too have some bad taste from the different e-cigs and the different atomizers and carts. Some have a burnt/harsh taste while the exact same juice in another piece of equipment will taste perfect. This is all in relatively new equipment that 'has' been primed with the juice in question.
I personally found that the cisco atty on the inferno with a drip tip will consistently give a harsher taste, slightly burnt. (like burnt sugar). While a drip tip with a stock atty on the 510 will be just right. And I tried cartomizers on all three of my ecigs(inferno, kr8, 510) and all three have different results.
On top of all that, don't forget that as others have said, your taste buds will go through some changes the longer you're away from analogs. Plus you may want to cleanse your palatte just like with foods, in order to enjoy a flavor.
If you can figure out the slightly burnt taste please keep me posted. I am experimenting like a mad woman to figure it out and get a consistent flavor. I want to enjoy my ButterRum no matter what e-cig I'm using. I'll be looking at the wicks on all of them and keeping an eye on this thread...
Sorry I'm not much help but at least I am in the same boat :)

That's exactly what happens (layer of PG/VG/flavorings builds up on the taste buds). Eating will help get rid of that layer. I've noticed the flavor is always much better after I eat. Also, putting the PV down for a while and drinking water helps, too.

... * would be interested in hearing about your experiences or solutions.I got way to much money invested in juices es and hardware to give up.

I have not tried DIY yet. I am so happy with my juice supplier I just am not in a hurry to do it. I have tried 3 places, the prefilled carts from v2 - good juice but way too expensive to continue to buy prefilled carts, Volcano's Kona Coffee which made me feel sick to juice, and Johnson Creek which I really really love. I highly suggest if you can afford to get Both sample packs (the original JC juices made with PG and the Red Oak Line made with VG). If you can only get one, start with the original as the flavors are so very yummy. Once you find one or two you like order at least a 15 ml bottle - and if you get 3 15ml bottles of any combination you get 10% off and it's only $8.95 for each bottle - don't rely on those samples for very long as they are only 3.7 ml each and when you find one you like you'll know it because all of a sudden the little bottle is empty because you liked it, or at least that's how it was in my case). As they say, everyone is different and your experience may be different but initially the goal is to keep vaping and that's the priority, not learning DIY - that I think should come second as a new hobby with your Ecigs.

All the juices, even the samples, come in glass bottles with a glass dropper. Never throw anything away - later when you do DIY these bottles will be great - the little ones first so you're only making small batches and later the larger ones, although I have to say I find the small bottles so very convenient for traveling around with, especially since I drip.

I currently use a Volcano Inferno, which I believe is about what you are using with your Ego. My manual Magmas just arrived 5 min. ago so after this post they'll be on the charger - I wanted something for those times I don't want to pull out the big one (like maybe a restaurant).

Good luck to you and I hope this helps.

I can't tell you the reasons why you aren't getting satisfaction but I can tell you that for me, as soon as I tried Backwoods Brew I felt I actually had a chance. Before that I was ready to give up for all the reasons you stated. I'm not saying every flavor was for me but even those that weren't, still had a much better taste and vapor than the others I had wasted so much money on.

You might want to go into the suppliers thread and check him out.

Good luck to you.

regretfully it's nice to have some company in this boat and your post was one of the more relatable posts.I think we have similar hardware and have had some great vape and then had to chase it trying to get back to that happy place.Even if we do everything exactly the same,it doesn't get there more times than it should.so first we examine the hardware trying different suppliers, different equipment all with the same amount of sucesses and just as many disapointments, all the while your still desperatly trying not to smoke, then you get some new juice just in time or in my case about a week of misery and it stars all over again.these products have great ptential and we have the tech i just need it to happen sooner than later.

My experience has been that your eliquid supplier also has a lot to contribute or to detract from the overall richness of taste from your vape. Some suppliers even offer an option to add more flavor to the eliquid when you order it. There are a lot of good suppliers, but some of the ones with whom I have had good experiences and who have a wide range of flavors include: FreedomSmokeUSA; VaporBomb; Tasty Vapor; and MsTsBakery. There are a lot of good suppliers, so check the forum on reviews of eliquids for other recommendations.

You might also want to try, if you have not, a blend of pg/vg. Most suggest that pg has a bit more flavor but vg makes more vapor. Blends of 80/20 or 70/30 are popular.
