I my experience, strong throat hit depends a lot more on things other than the nicotine concentration. Here is how I get it:

- Joye 510 with FRESH megabattery.
- juice with kick--one I've found is 60/20/20 Camel/Tobacco/RY4, 24mg.
- New atomizer heavily primed with juice, then rarely cleaned.
- Always keep a filled cart on the atomizer.
- Normal round carts, with cap on--melt ridges so it doesn't pop off.
- Fresh polyfill with straw mod--requires some reshaping during the day.
- Top off every three or four vapes (depending on vaping time).

IMHO, the Joye 510's biggest issue is that it takes a while to get it wicking properly. To get around this problem, I allow the ecig to stand straight up for a while after a topoff, LED end up. I top off AFTER a vape, not before, then put the ecig in my shirt pocket, LED up, ready for my next vape. I hate the idea of a pocket protector--I'm enough of a geek as it is. So far I haven't ruined a shirt :)

See? I was not willing to put that much effort into this. I wanted to screw on a carto and puff. For me, the VK was an answer to prayer! Keeps me happy, keeps me off the cigs, keeps me sane without the hassle!

Seriously???? lol What type was it?

Sorry Jen. I made a heartless little jab there. Assuming you are as cute as your cat, it was also pretty stupid.

I think it was EZ something or other. I didn't know whether to be pleased about it or ashamed of it.

What are your experiences that led you to your choice?

Sadly, it seems that the worst ecigs seem to be the ones that are able to advertise the most! Then they leave a bad taste in people's mouths. Too bad!

My experiences? Well as a person who has smoked more then half her life, I was really wanting to get off the cigs. I had quit several times using patch, gum, cold turkey etc... but was always wanting a cig, to the point of being edgy and short tempered and I hated that! When I was buying a carton of cigarettes in a smoke shop, I noticed an ad for an ecig and was intrigued. It was crap of course, but just my limited experience with it made me see the potential. This was it! So I got online and started exploring the possibilities and found this board, which lead me to the Titan 510. Won't bore you with the details of the poor customer service I received, but will tell you I found the 510 far too much hassle just to get a decent hit. I work full time, have a teen ager, and don't need another hobby! I thought about buying a mod but didn't think it would look very lady like hanging from my lips. I read about the VaporKing and decided to give it a try. I don't need to tell you that I have been blown away with how good it is, and by the customer service I received from V4L.

And that my friend is my story... unless, of course, you wanted to hear my life story beginning from my date of birth! Facinating story by the way! ;) (kidding)

What's your story?

I'll admit it is a tad annoying to fiddle with the poly crap. I don't mind topping off. The fiddling with the poly can get me annoyed, though.

I am going to try the brass pipe filters per someone's suggestion on the forum. It seemed quite easy and quick to form them and poof -- done. I hope! We'll see.

I don't mind trying minor new things. I'm not a mod person as that requires some mechanical prowess! I'm a computer geek, not an electronics/soldering iron geek. But hey -- more power to ya if you can get something to work better and keep ya vaping!

Depends on how much you vape. I generally go through about 1 1/2 carts a day. The carts are super easy to refill also, and can be refilled up to 10 times although I find the carts I refill don't last as long. As a comparision, I usually went through about 1 cart a day with my 510, but I was dripping on the atty and topping the carts with 2 or 3 drops pretty much all day long just to get a throat hit, so it is kind of hard to compare lol!

So no topping off with the VK? How long to the refilled carts last? Tried any mods to get more life out of a refill?
Trying to avoid another disappointment.

Honestly, I had a Mod on order the day I bought the VaporKing. I got my VK and cancelled the order (fortunately it hadn't shipped) I really didn't want a mod hanging out of my mouth (not ladylike ya know?) but I was desparate! I would put my vaporking manual passthrough up against any mod out there for taste and throat hit! That thing is a beast! For the price of a Mod, you can get the VaporKing starter kit, believe me - it is the better buy!

Refilled carts don't last as long as the ones I get from V4L, they are amazing! (Maybe when I get better at filling them lol) But they last several hours longer then the 510 carts I was using, and without the dripping and topping off I was doing on the 510 carts.

As far as I know, mods dig into how long a refill lasts, as they produce more vapor and stronger throat hits. I could be wrong, as a noobie I am willing to be.

I'm using a DSE801, and haven't have the issue myself. I'd say I get 2 hours between refills, vaping regularly.

Just to give you an idea, I put a fresh V4L cart on at around 8:00 this morning and have been vaping pretty steady on it since then. It is still nowhere near being done and it is now 2:40. If I had put on a refilled cart instead, it might be starting to fade a bit.

My story...you will have tune in tomorrow.

BTW, in the future, you may not want to explain yourself to someone ready to criticize. I'll avoid the tempation :)

In a word YES! Yes, because Steve oversees the production of the ones he sells. For instance, he turned down several prototypes of the manual he sells until he got one made to his specifications. The carts are also made to his exacting standards. I bought some cheaper carts and while much better then the 510 carts, the taste and longevity wasn't there. Sometimes you get what you pay for, but honestly - I don't know how V4L stays in business! They are constantly putting goodies into my orders - extra flavor carts to try, even a super long manual battery that is a beast! These guys rock because they really WANT you off cigs!

JenJen and JLeigh ... Y'all convinced me. I spent several hours today reviewing all the posts in the V4L subforum -- lots of satisfied customers over there. I'll keep my 901 as backup or maybe give away the pieces/parts to my family (I'll do just about anything to help get them off cigarettes). So even though I've already ordered this model from a different vendor, I'm going to order a VK from V4L. I just cannot keep devoting all the time to the setup -- spend more time on this than I do on my hobbies! I just want to pick it up and vape for crying out loud.

Thanks for steering me in a better direction. I will be placing my order with Steve before the end of the evening. Wish I could go for the full ultimate kit, but I've already spent over $400 in less than a month on this stuff. So for now I'll get the PCC kit and some cartomizers. I can always get more goodies later. Thanks again for all your help. :D

Yep, I hear you! And that was where I was at!

I know what you mean, I have done the same but I really think this will be it for you! And Steve is famous for putting in goodies to keep us smiling! Be sure to type smilin in the coupon code for 10% off!

Don't be shy, post in the forum! You will be most welcome there, it almost like hanging out "Cheers" or something lol! I prefer the manual batteries, if you also prefer manual just ask for a manual battery in the comment section where you put your cartomizer preference. I think the battery is auto in the kit, but I ordered some for friends and asked for manual.

Criticize away Dave, I don't expect everyone to agree with me. :p

Well rather than criticize, I'll just define what I mean by "throat hit," which I believe is an often misused term.

The FAQ I read said there are actually two kinds of hits. The "throat hit" and the "lung hit". A smoker like me is actually looking for a "lung hit". The "lung hit" is what is so elusive and difficult to maintain during the day. Maintaining the lung hit typically requires topoffs, no matter how you slice it. So ease of topoffs and time between topoffs that maintain a lung hit is VERY important. I tried the Npro and it only delivered lung hit for a short time. And the lung hit was caused by excessive juice flow into my mouth.

Just about any of ecigs I tried could deliver lung hit by allowing excessive juice flow into my mouth. Thus my criteria that an ecig deliver lung hit without excessive juice flow.

Summing it up, my techniques deliver the best, longest lasting lung hit of any ecigs I tried, without excessive juice flow (assuming I'm careful not to overfill).

My experience with other ecigs makes me very doubtful that they can do what my technique does. And honestly I'm sick of spending so much money trying to find anything that promises to deliver what I have found so difficult to achieve. I apologize that I have become so close minded. :)

No disrespect to the VK as I haven't used it, but I'm sure all of you are using your 510 non-optimally. I'd swap a battery out of my PCC every hour or so and never run out of battery throughout the day (with just 2 batteries).

Also, I'll put 20 or so drops in my 901 carts that I use with a 510, and when I pull my PTB plug out, there is no juice left on it. No topping off, no dripping, no anything. Just hassle-free vaping all day. When the cart is empty, you just drop 20 more drops on the PTB and are good to go.

Not really sure how you manage to only get a few vapes on a 510 and need to top off again. I didn't even have to do that when I first started, before I even used a straw.
