I took one of my Riva batteries off the charger today and screwed in an atty and tried to fire it up, and it just blink..blink..blinked at me as if the battery had no charge.

I unscrew the atty, press the button, and the LED stays lit like a normal button press would. screw the atty back in, press button - blink blink blink.

put the battery back on charger, it lights up green - fully charged. Take it off, clean it as best as possible, try a brand new atty - same result.

is this battery now useless?

Take that Batt and start tapping it against a table end, it could get it to come back believe it or not, you have probably fried your Mosfet connection for the most part but sometimes tapping it could make it work again, if not it's trash. Unless the newer Riva has the 5 button on off option but I don't think they do. if so try clicking your button 5 times to see if it starts working properly, just a shot possibly but I doubt it. use the table tap trick it's your best shot, or it hits the can. One of the secrets to using Ego type Batts with a Mosfet connection is not to chain vape with an LR Atty, it heats up the connection between the switch and connector and fries it so give it a rest in between vapes to cool down,!!!

It is a very tedious job taking them apart and fixing them and putting them back together. I have done it but most won't want to bother or can do this task.! Just purchase a new one though it can be done, Remember these are only Batts just like any other battery, they do die after much usage. I must have 35-40 of them all over the place, if your gonna vape and use to smoke a lot heck whats having 5-10 Batts, it's nothing, if your a serious vapor your best bet is having a few back ups so you don't get jammed up and can continue to vape and not sit while waiting for a delivery of your new one and not getting your Nic fix.!

I wanna mention it may not be the battery in all cases. I had this problem.

If you look very closely at the connection on the atty, you will see it has a rubber O ring just under the middle positive connection. It's hard to see unless it's not on properly then you can easily see it. It will look like there is something white rubber between the middle positive connector and the outer negative connector.

Sometimes these O rings don't get put on right and this causes the positive connector to stick where it won't make contact with the battery. If that's the case you need to dig the rubber O ring out with a needle and place it securely over and under the lip on the middle positive connector, thus propping the connector up in place where it will touch the battery.

I have one Riva that does this all the time with one of my atomizers. Especially if I just used the atomizer on my Provari. In my case the center connection on the atomizer is not making connection with the center conductor of the battery. I use a pin and just move the center post on the atomizer slightly, no more problems.
