Function over form?

So I am sitting at my desk, enjoying my latest little configuration and I realise that I really like it, probably sticking with it for a while. I send a photo to a friend and realise that my rig looks a bit odd, doesnt flush, colors do not match and It got me thinking. I do not particularly care about looks on this stuff. I love the look and feel of the higher end mods, but I am just about in heaven for my own personal vaping needs with the Cronus, tobh ATTY, .5ohms, and a VCT4. How many of you out there have this same though process, who cares what it looks like, it works?

I don't care what my vape stuff looks like either, reliability & durability trumps aesthetics.

I don't put much effort into it, but I like it to look nice.

For example, I recently got a Fogger. The gold one would have matched my mod the closest, but it was 10% more expensive. I didn't care enough to pay the extra amount, but I did care enough to get the black one since I though it would look nicer.

As far as sitting flush, if I can control it, then yes, I get very picky. I'll take off the atty and play with the adjustable pins to get it to sit right. If I can't control it, it never bothers me. For example, there is a sliver of a gap when I put my Nautilus on my Vamo, and I'm fine with it. But if there is a sliver when i put my dripper on my mech, I'll spend as long as it takes to fix it (which granted, is maybe ten seconds).

It depends on my mood. Right now I'm digging my Kayfun on a blasted King mod in 18350 config. Compact and very sleek. I also have a V3tronix Flip set up with a 18650 and Kick topped with my Erlkonig. The flip is deeply cut and the Erlk looks great sitting on top of it. While I like the look, I have to admit it's a bit gaudy next to the King. I guess it just depends on my mood.

It all depends on the person. I prefer to keep it simple whatever works to help me to not smoke is what works. There are many products out there and many people are content with just keeping it simple and basic. More money for morning coffee as well.

I used to worry about it, matching tanks and devices so they look nice but have since given up that mantra (minus the annoyances when a tank does not flush) but colors etc I have given up on I go with what works. The cronus/atty combo looks pretty silly but man does it have a nice vape. on the flipside this atty looks great on my panzer, but I dont care for that mod so I dont use it.

To each their own... I agree that function trumps form, but when function meets form... aaaahhh... now that's a winner! With that said... aesthetics are a personal choice, so whatever floats your boat!

I'm an artist with a focus on design so the way something looks is very important to me. But I'd say I put just as much time into researching function and then the design aspect of the function. Basically it has to work as good as it looks.

I'm a architect and designer so for me the best looking device is one that functions perfectly with nothing more than that, I hate the heavily engraved mods, I like a simple well machined tube with a precise button and lock ring.
