And after a frustration night of failing to wrap 34 gage around around two strands of 30 I might be thinking I am going about this wrong. Anyone have any suggestions on making small gage claptons. the 30 was to flimsy to turn in a drill. I even tried the swivels but it just twisted.
You need higher gauge wrap wire to make a 30 gauge fused work. The 34 gauge will probably be to strong and cause the 30 gauge to twist up on itself. I've done 30 gauged fused
coils with 38 gauge outter wrap.
Under the steam engine options, next to where you select your wire, it gives you the option of round, twist, parallel, or ribbon. Use the twist/parallel option, and leave 0 as your pitch, and go from there. That should get you pretty close. With ni80 30 gauge cores, you'll need about 11-12 wraps around a 2.5 mm ID to get to .6 duals. 8/9 wraps for KA1 cores.
