Why the sudden (for me) excitement about g-plat wire? Is it really sooo much better than kanthal a-1?

G-Plat Vs. Kanthal - YouTube

It's a lot expensive. I'm definitely not getting it.

kanthal -- 250ft - 35$
g-plat -- 20ft - 20$

Quoting him: If you got money to blow, give it a shot.

"Better" is all a matter of where you're coming from and what you're looking for in a vape. It is softer and supposedly easier to work with than Kanthal, and its resistance is lower, gauge vs. gauge (About half? Not 100% sure about that).

It might be better if that sounds like something that appeals to you. I'm holding off buying any until I know what kind of wire it actually is. There's been a lot of speculation, but I don't think anyone knows for sure yet.

How many Inches, on Average, does it take to make a Coil?

So what is the Price Difference between a Kanthal A1 and G-Plat coil?

If the resistance is actually half that of Kanthal as I've seen reported, that would mean ohm for ohm you're using twice as much wire per coil. (assuming the same resistance).

So what type of Inches are we talking about? On average.

Just trying to get a Feel for what a G-Plat Coil costs vs a Kanthal A1?

Usually it takes me about 15cm for normal single coil heads, 20cm for bigger heads (dual coil heads).

Cool. Some Numbers.

Using the Larger 20cm length, 20cm is about 7.9 Inches.

So for Kanthal A1 @ $35/250', the cost of a coil is $35/((250 x 12) /7.9) = 9.2 cents/coil

And for the G-Plat @ $20/20', the cost of a coil is $20/((20 x 12) /7.9) = 65.8 cents/coil

Not sure How Long a Coil Lasts on Average? One can Divide the Coil Cost by how many days they think it will last. But if a Coil Last 4 Days, then a G-Plat coil would cost about 17 Cents/Day.

Holy Flinkering Snit! 17 Cents per Day.

That's why I Quit Smoking in the First Place. Because it was So Expensive.

Kanthal on avg is 5cents a foot GPlat is on avg 1.00$ a foot 20X more costly

Gplat has about 30% lower resistance per length as compared to Kanthal, GPlat is "softer" less springy, Gplat heats up faster and seems to cool down a tad bit quicker than Kanthal... is it worth the 1$ a foot price.... welllll Im still using Kanthal... I bought a 6 foot roll of Gplat to test it out... my curiosity is satisfied....

Yeah I don't know Either Way if G-Plat is good to use. And Price/Benefit is up to each Person.

I just Like to Break Everything down to what a Cost per Day is. Because sometimes Price is Deceiving when you buy in a Large Quantity.

It Sounds like the Kanthal A1 is Basically "Free" when you look at a Cost per Day. But by my Crude Analysis, the G-Plat isn't Exactly going to Break the Bank for an Average Person.

So If I tried the G-Plat, and I liked it and thought it was Better, I would Keep Using it. Because it's Cost Per Day isn't all that Much.

But that is Just Me.

As I understand, this G-plat wire has about 30% lower resistance per inch then kanthal wire of the same diameter. Suppose we were using 29 gauge kanthal. Then we heed G-plat 29 gauge with twice the1.3 legth of kanthal to get the same resistance. But we can use instead 30 gauge kanthal and it will have the same resistance per inch as 29 gauge G-plat. So, what it is all about?

Yeah... But it comes in a Cool Baggie with a Flashy Graphic Card. That, and they Guy who is Selling is Trying to Buy a New Boat.

Haha yeah I pretty much got that. Is nichrome really that much more expensive or is the markup still pretty insane?
