Does it take time for the wick to start working properly? Yesterday I was getting alot of dry hits, but today it is much better and I haven't changed anything.

Yes, sometimes it does take a little bit of a break-in period for SS wicks. At least that's been my experience.

Ok...I'm out of ideas.

I can't get it to wick, and can't get rid of the hot spots between the posts and wick....no matter how I wrap it. And that's after taking the PTFE tubing out. I'm not worried about shorts...I know I can get the wick oxidized well enough to eliminate that.

Just the base....coil reads 1.5 on the provari. Put the middle section on....drops to 1.0. Take the middle section back off....goes back to 1.5. As of right now...I'm done fighting with it. Haven't had this much trouble with a rebuilable since the first time I used one...
I had a glow from the wick to the + post the first time I wrapped mine.Since than I've been juicing the kanthel and heating it with a lighter before I wrap it.I haven't had any problems since.I'm also using an old wick from Sturms g tank and maybe that's making a difference.
You know how these things are, you'll find it.

Quigs, paging Quigs ....

Say, I think it's time to re-wick/coil. No wonder it went from 3.0Ω to 3.8Ω. I've never had a SS wick/coil gunk up this much. This one is a Quigstik. Did I just go too long, or have you noticed the Quiqstick gunks up more/quicker than a standard setup.

Woh!, I've never had a wick/coil set up do that...and I've pushed one to almost 10 days (just to see)...I vape mostly light clearish in colour fruits, so that may be it...granted, the hybrid cotton/mesh wicks have about half the lifespan of straight mesh but meh, I only really use them in the GTUS and I don't mind swapping them out (I find it relaxing, lol), I just find the that the warm rich flavour the cotton adds counters the GTUS's cold bloodedness and because they don't short...zero screwing around

plus another added bonus with the hybrid...your mesh wick should basically last forever, I don't even torch it before re wrapping new thread...the mesh under the thread is spotless, yours on the other hand may need a little work :D

Geez, Mike, what kinda juice are you running? And what kind of thread did you use? That's seriously nasty

I was using a few strands from cheesecolth and vaping a 50/50 pg/vg Ry4 from IKV. It was only a couple-few tanks of the Ry4 which had been vaping well, then I switched to a tank load of Mint Truffle from Kickbass, it's a really dark juice. That's when the vapor dropped off and the Ω's went up. Don't know if it built up with the Ry4 and the Kickbass was a co-incidence or if the Mint Truffle causeed it. I couldn't believe how gunky it got after just about 3-4 tanks. I've re-done it using some bamboo cotton, I'll see how that gunks up or doesn't.

That's why I switched to the Mint Truffle, I wanted to see how the cotton would help the flavor in the GTUS compared the the basically tobacco flavor of an Ry4.

Right about the mesh wick lasting. Under all that gunk when I removed the cotton the mesh coil looked like it did when new. It wasn't effected at all from the build-up. I didn't bother re-oxidizing it just re-wrapped the bamboo cotton on it and re-coiled it.

Also, just want to add, I sent some of my what I thought was 325 to Cyrus and he stuck it under a microscope and did a thread count on it...seems it's not 325 it's 180 ...at any rate I've been using it as the mesh in my cotton/mesh hybrids (as well as in my Quigsworth Hybrid V1 which is just straight mesh)...this stuff is a little tougher to roll as it's so rigid but once done, man is it tough and wicks awesome...

Just a tip I found last night. I have a non modded G-tank US without spacers in it. Coil was good. Place the top on, error E1.

So I wrapped a tiny bit of cotton around the whole wick (bluegrass style?) and it's now running like a stable champ. Was definitely shorting out on top cap.

My super modified GTUS is still working just as poorly as it was before being modified....but I am at least getting vapor for one or two drags.

I am getting rid of it, so does anyone know right off hand what the screw size is for the long screw? Mine is tight in the insert...and stripped the first time I tried to tighten it down. I'm thinking of replacing both screws with thumb screws before letting it go, but need to know the sizes.

They are tricky to find in my neck of the woods. I went to my nearest Ace Hardware store and picked up 4 extra 0-80 1/2" bolts, they looked the same as the ones we got with the kit, accept they were flat heads, I asked if they had Philips or ideally Allen key heads, but the guy said that's all we have. So I grabbed them anyway. My head is getting warn on the positive also, so thought get them just in case.
But when I got home and placed it next to the GTUS bolts, the thread diameter was noticeably bigger.
They are super tiny but I'm wondering if anyone here managed to find any Allen key bolts that fit without modification?
The cheese thread setup is still going super nice.

Hey, you guys might like the spring method, I've got the first half posted earlier. once installed the screws don't need to be turned so flat head screws are fine. I cant wait to get back to mine as I have some nice wood bodies to go with it. A drill press and a belt sander are mighty fine.

Oh, and I think I'll have a magnetic adapter for it too, better current.

Stick a mesh/cotton hybrid wick into your GTUS...been running mine with one since Saturday night...awesome taste and no shorting issues...

Well, as I previously noted in this thread, I had terrible trouble using the Ego tanks with the GTUS, with the main problem being juice eventually working its way through the tank and into my mouth - I really hate that. Some reduced flavor, too, but that's not as big of an issue as the juice-in-mouth problem. Anyway, I decided to give the "Quigstick" a try, and low and behold, it seems to have solved the problem of juice coming through the tank. I have run about 5 tanks worth of juice through the GTUS with no issues whatsoever. That's great news to me, because I really wanted to be able to use the Ego tanks, and now I can. I guess that cotton just holds onto the juice better than pure SS. Flavor is good, too. Probably not as strong as the pure SS, but I can live with it. THANKS QUIGS!

Are you using it with the 'as delivered' hole size & nipple for the eGo Tank. I tried the eGo setup when I first got the GTUS and had the same issue. There was a 'hint' to remove the inner baffle of the tank to help. I did and, it did help, but still got juice in my mouth.

Haven't tried the eGo since I started doing the Quigstick, time to revisit it.

I kept a handful of my eGo B's around just to remind myself why I spent $250 on my Ody w/ext kit ...swore I'd never use them again, in fact, Dan said he may be short on the eGo tank adapters, I told him not to worry, short me, I could care less, I guess he had enough and he sent it anyway...I have the old eGo B's, with the hard caps...my 35x35 Quigstick, rolled to fit loose in my 3mm bore out on the mid section slides into the eGo just perfect...I have to say...glad I kept them...one things for sure, GTUS is lighter and less top heavy with them...and the vape is a touch warmer, it's all good

I was going through some old stuff and I found this: the body of one of the hand cleaning spray bottles you get from the dollar store. I used this unsuccessfully to be able to protect my regular Joye 510 ecig that I started out with (ecig leaked whether right-side up or upside down).

Surprise surprise--- it fits excellently on the GTUS... too bad it is so long though! Wondering if I could cut it down then use some sort of plug on the cut end?

If I ran a battery along side it as is (after putting a long thin poly-tube with a drip tip on it), it would probably last 3 days of vaping!

The picture did not stay bigger :(
