Just to keep you guys abreast of what it is going on, I will be taking about a $533.00 loss on this co-op. The initial quotes I gathered for the co-op from the company were done about 2 months ago, so the price per item has gone up by a cumulive total slightly per part. Just the nature of the beast. No I am not asking for money, but anyone that thinks I am making money off co-op's is definantly mistaken.

I want to contribute more to offset this as well. However, I don't want to throw in an additional $5 if I really need to give an additional $10. I don't care what the amount is because it's definitely worth every penny. Dan should NOT be burdened with this. I'm sure we all agree he is already doing way too much. I seem to remember reading some where that Dan can't make money off of the coop so I also think we need to be careful as to not violate any ECF rules. Does anyone have a good estimate as to how much extra we need to kick in?

Alright, I just sent a little more to Dan. Please everyone help out! If everyone chips in it's only 2 or 3 dollars more. Just remember to add a little more to offset PP fees.

Dan, if at the end of this you still have not evened out please let us know. I will gladly send more $ your way for all of this work your doing for us.

Way I see it, is that even if there are a few dollars extra, there's always the 'unmentionables' that come into play. The little bags to put parts in, the bubble wrap to make sure things are protected, the boxes, envelopes, whatever... it all adds to the cost. I run group buys myself and I have the same problem, I quote people the price for the item with postage, but those elastic bands that hold everything together had to be bought and paid for.... Don't think I've ever really broken even on a group buy yet!

Similarly Dan, I'm going to send you $40 via paypal... I figured $10 a unit extra should cover myself and help offset the others. Alot of people live on a budget these days, and simply may not be able to afford to send more. Besides, if I were going to run at a $533 loss on a group buy, I would seriously reconsider ever doing it again, and as you can see Dan, we don't want you to have any doubts!

Very good point -- and with close to 300 people in this co-op those extra "unmentionables" really add up. I suppose if push came to shove and Dan was required by the rules to pour whatever extra he got into the co-op he could always buy up some extra spare O-rings to include or extra bubble wrap or whatever he needs to come out roughly even. Just so long as he's not short.

You're very right there, those unmentionables will mount right up, so way I see it, any extra goes to offset that. I can't see that anyone would have a problem with this, or look on it as a rule infringement in any way :)

I just can't see letting Dan take on that chunk by himself. My conscience will not allow that. He's doing this to help US. The least I could do is kick him a couple buck to get a beer on me when all is said and done. He didn't have to do this. If it wasn't for him, we would all be fighting over a G-Tank if it happened to show up in the Classy's.

I should hope not. Dan's already donating a ton of time, he shouldn't have to donate a ton of money, too. This ain't a charity, but he's doing us all a huge favor here. We owe him this at the very least. :)
