What is the difference in vape time between a ProVari V2 and a ProVari Mini V2 (without extender caps)? What's the mah? Size is a consideration, and I honestly don't mind switching out batteries 2-3 times a day, but I don't want it to be a constant hassle either. It's the ever 20 minutes with a Bloog that's killing me.

Also, I can kill a Bloog carto in about 20min. It's not bone dry, but the vapor and taste is falling off. How long do you think a tank would last me? ... of course, I guess that depends on the tank. Again, though, I don't mind refilling 2-3 times a day.

I can't answer your question about time for mini vs. large size. I know that a 1600 mah 18650 lasts me a little over a day and a 2000 mah 18650 lasts at least a day and a half.

How much juice does a bloog cargo hold? You say you can kill one off in 20 minutes, any idea what volume of juice that is? I vape about 3-4 ml a day and my tanks hold about that much. I usually fill a tank once a day. You can get larger tanks and XL cartos. I use the regular sized boges, so I can't use a tank too much bigger than what I'm doing now. (I make my own out of syringes, so there's some wiggle room depending on how long I cut the tank, but the limit is the length of the cartomizer.)

My husband goes one day on a 18350 battery, but he is an odd case. He vapes 36mg and he doesn't vape a lot. Maybe 1 1/2 ml a day.

I could probably go through 2 or 3 18350s in one day, but it's hard to say because I use more than one mod at a time. Hopefully someone else can chime in here. With my current vaping habits, I have to replace an 18350 once a day and an 18490 once every day and a half or two. I can get 3 days out of an 18650.

But maybe I gave the answer above. You can probably vape 1 to 1 1/2ml on a 3.0 ohm carto at 4.8 volts with an 18350 battery. If you turn off the LED to conserve power, you can probably do a little better.

I'm not sure you can compare the Bloog cartos to what you're going to do with a ProVari and a tank, especially if you consider upping your nic level, at least at first, but I would guess you could be a 4ml to 6ml vaper to start, which is two tanks. Unless you get XL cartos so you can use an XL tank, but now we're talking about a longer setup again.

EDIT: my 18350 batts are 700mah, and my 18490s are 1100 mah.

Thoughts? Anyone want to try to talk me out of a ProVari? I'm still open to suggestions and comments.

Just make sure you are aware of the fact that the premium you're paying is for fit and finish and bells and whistles. It won't perform any better than the $35 Madbapes VV box. For the low resistance DCs, it won't perform as well As others have said, that's not really a big deal. The Provari's a good mod, It'll feel good but, it's going to vape the same as any other VV. So, if that's worth it to you, go for it.

I prefer VVs with knobs I can adjust with my eyes closed but, that's a personal choice. The knob position and how it's vaping tells me all I need to know.

Well, to be fair, it will provide a more consistent vape than any other variable voltage device that is not regulated.

I don't think there is such thing as a VV device that isn't regulated. Even the Madvapes box has that. What it doesn't do that the Provari does is adjust the loaded voltage to match the unloaded voltage but, with a knob that doesn't matter. You adjust the knob to the vape you want not to a particular voltage. Once you get it there, it stays there till the batteries go which on that mod isn't all that long. :)

I don't know if regulated is the right word, but I was pretty sure it was.
What I mean is that the voltage will stay where you put it without dropping off over time.

I was under the impression that the Lavatube is not "regulated" in that way.
And I am certain that the Ego Twist is not "regulated" in that way.

Should I have used another word?

If you stay off ciggies long enough they really smell and taste bad! Up your nic level and stick with it, it's not the nicotine that you are craving it's te 4000 other chemicals in that nasty cigarette, so tell yourself you just gotta get by till the craving is gone, it will happen sooner than yu think. Vaping is the holy grail in quitting you just gotta kept on try'n!:vapor: It took me 40 yrs to quit and now I am so,so thankful for my PV and e-juice!!!!

Hey, what about the DCT Cartomizer Tank sold by Provape?

510 DCT Cartomizer Tank

Is that what MustangSallie was talking about in here post here:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...again-advice-really-wanted-4.html#post6347966

I wasn't talking about the DCT, those I know nothing about. As long as a single coil Boge carto will fit in it, it'll work just fine. The one thing you don't want to do, is get a tank that uses proprietary cartos. The original SmokTech tanks did not. They came with a special flanged carto, but you could use any carto you wanted. You just wouldn't get the "benefit" that the flange at the bottom of the carto would prevent the tank from slipping down too far. Something that happens quite a bit with new tank users. The drawback to using the special cartos is that they are 2 or 3 times more expensive then just buying a box of Boges or Smoktech cartos on sale somewhere and punching them yourself.

Which reminds me... if you're going the tank route you might want to save yourself a bit of trouble up front and spend the $ and buy a GOOD carto punch with a tip that doesn't dull right away and can be sharpened easily if needed. A lot of people will say a hammer and nail or deck screw will do just fine. True, they do. Do you really want to pull those out at work when you find you just burned up the carto in your tank and the only cartos you have with you are unpunched? I suppose you could just use a carto without the tank in that case, or carry a couple of spare punched cartos. Just my :2c:

I believe regulated is the correct word, DC2. I also believe you are correct when you say the Lavatube (at least version 1) and the eGo C Twist are not.

I think you've gotten some excellent advice in this thread, and I'm looking forward to hearing your report once you've gotten your new toy- while I don't use a Provari myself, I've heard so many good things about them from more experienced members here that I honestly don't think you can go wrong with one.

For flavors, I personally thought I needed tobacco flavors when I quit. I was sure that nothing else would do, but I hated them, and they just made me want what I was missing- a cigarette. When I gave up on tobacco flavors and started trying other stuff, it clicked for me, and now I'm having a blast with it. I'm not looking for an all-day vape, one special cure all flavor for life, I'm just having fun trying new things. That, for me, is the holy grail- making it fun.

It's not going to ever be smoking. But if you make it fun, it will be better. When was smoking fun, really?

Also, get yourself one of the little widgets some of us have in our sigs (just click one to find the set up you can customize) that keep track of how many cigs you've avoided and how much money you've saved. It will help put the costs of your new hobby in perspective, and keep you motivated. I really love watching those numbers add up.

Um. Just because I love typing (OK, other reasons too).

Any VV mod is regulated. So are many non-vv mods. The ones that follow battery voltage are not. Usually all mechanical types, or power-fet only.

Any regulator can suffer from either over amperage (usually a cut-off/out, but somtimes a limit) or insufficient current (voltage drop) from the battery. If you need more amps than the regulated unit can supply, voltage drops. But it's still regulated... just insufficient to handle the load.

Wow, A LOT of great advice. I don't know where to begin. There are SO many options, and honestly a lot of this is over my head. I mean, sure, I get the concepts, but what exactly some of this means is still a cloudy mess. Regardless, my thoughts are coming together...

I'm strongly considering a ProVari. I like all the features, and especially the wide voltage range. AND the wife has already approved the price! :) I just want something that will remove all doubt that my gear is the problem. If I still have trouble, then I'll be able to narrow it down to liquids or cartos. The eGo-C Twist is nice, but it's not quite as wide a voltage range, it won't error like the ProVari if I over crank the power, and if I still have trouble I'll wonder if it's because I need to be at or over 5 volts.

Thoughts? Anyone want to try to talk me out of a ProVari? I'm still open to suggestions and comments.

Don't look at me..lol. I love my ProVari. I got a V2, and then ordered a Mini last week. I have looked at them all, and don't think there is anyway you can go wrong. I am 3 months off the cigs.....so I consider it a great investment for my health.

I use clearomizers on my ProVari. I have had great performance from the Vivi Nova, as well as the E1 Revive. I also use a lot of Stardust type clearos. Got a Revive E3 on the way, as well as an Apollo tank. I am one of those people who really hates the taste of polyfill in cartos.....so carto tanks just don't do it for me, no matter how hard I have tried to like them.

So then "insufficient regulation" would be the proper terminology?

IDK. Maybe we should discuss in a different thread... But, IDK what your experience is so I don't know the term to match to it.

The vv units use a variable voltage REGULATOR. They keep the same voltage unless the battery is too low or the unit cuts out. However, if you are using DCC's for example, the unit may not supply enough amps at a desired 5 volts. So voltage drops in that case. That's why we have different versions of, say, a Lavatube (latest has a 4 amp switch).

So, excluding DCCs, the unit should hold up to a constant voltage. There may be a % error, but it should be very small. Basically, if you graphed the voltage output it should be a strait line over time, at least for the 1st 1/2 or 3/4 of the battery duration. If it allows the voltage to drop near the end of the battery charge, that's a design decision.

What's your experience? What atty/carto (DCC?). Did you meter it?

I am one of those people who really hates the taste of polyfill in cartos.....so carto tanks just don't do it for me, no matter how hard I have tried to like them.
That's mostly why I hate cartos too. I guess I should try clearos. I just use an atty and drip.
