Hey folks,
I'm new to this forum & wanted to say G'day to everyone here from Melbourne, Australia.
I quit smoking on the Monday eve prior to Christmas (a week ago- Australian time) & am thrilled. I attribute my success in quitting to "vaping" & to all of you beautiful, kind & supportive people here. I've lurked here for a few weeks & can honestly say you guys are awesome. I'm not on face book or twitter, or any other social media site- so there must be a lot of love/happiness here for me to have joined. As I am not into social media at all. So, thank you all for your inspirational stories; the humorous; the compassionate & intelligent posts I have read here.
I also wanted to say bravo to the inventors of vaporizer's/e-cig's. As I truly believe, I could not have quit smoking without vaping. My first Vape was incredible; I had so much hope riding on its success- due to hearing all the positive stories shared here & elsewhere. I am still in a bit of shock- or rather- stunned amazement regarding quitting my beloved 15 rollie cigarettes a day. You see I enjoyed smoking my Bank tobacco- but have wanted to quit for the last few years, as I was worried (as nearly all smokers would be) about the health risks of smoking. And only recently- I developed a smoking cough in the mornings & felt 'run down' a lot of the time over for the last few yews. The say after turning 35, that the body doesn't heal itself as well at it did hitherto. And I do agree with this. I am now 42 & smoke free- WOO- HOOO!
So, this is a bit of a long post. I just wanted to share my journey so far. And let you all know that without you guys (& most surely-without vaping) I reckon I would still be smoking. You see, even though I wanted to quit a lot of the time, & even though I tried to not smoke to many a day (I would roll my cig's quite thin); I never ever felt that I could quit. I gave up on the idea so many times because frankly the ciggy devil on the shoulder kept saying "you simply cant quit". Well I have quit & today is the first day- after a week without analogues- that I feel I can say I have done it. I have quit smoking. YEAH! YIPPEE! and YEEHAH!
Yesterday, my sixth day- was the worst. But most of the time I have felt pretty okay. Today, however, I feel amazing. My teeth look better already. My cough has simply gone. I can walk so much faster & further (I walk about 30 minutes a day). I cant wait to go back to work- & I plan I starting swimming 50-60 laps twice a week in my local 25 meter pool soon. You see, I used to be an avid swimmer, but I stopped about 2 years ago because I always felt run down after woods & I was embarrassed that I would stink of ciggie's whenever I walked into the leisure centre.
Okay, sorry to ramble on. I shall sca-doodle off now. I'll endeavor to write here about my progress as often as I can, & I hope to chat with ya'all & respond to posts when I am on this site.
All the very best to everyone here for the new year. Thanks again. Shazyzen.
