They do seem to be making an effort. I love the mod just struggling to adapt to the battery life. I've been using dual battery mods for so long this is driving me crazy. One other issue I have that I hope they will address in the software is seems to me that after about 50 percent discharge I notice the voltage drop in the vape almost like an unregulated mod as the battery gets weaker. Something's not right with that. It should hit the same right up until the battery is dead.

I am facing the same exact thing here.. What batteries are you using?

Did you resolve it?

I have had mine now for two weeks @iamtezer I got mine from Geek Vape Aegis 100W 18650/26650 Mod in Au.
I did not try the waterproof tests but I have dropped it onto the concrete driveway and all good. The instruction booklet says do not deliberately expose it to water lol. So all these reviews do make me laugh. With the 18650 battery @ 50W with 0.19 Ohm twin Jugernaught SS coils I get about 280 puffs with the bigger battery the 26650 which it does not come with I get about 350 puffs. Its an excellent unit for the tradesman or the man on the land.

Which batteries you are using here? What is the making?
Im using awt 18650 battery and vape at 50w but the battery dies very quickly (after 40-50 puffs) and when the battery life is half way the wattage never makes it to 50 although this what i set to vape at.

Do you guys face anything like this?

Single batteries are going to start having problems at 50% charge when you are trying to pull more than 35-40ish watts from them. Regulated mods can use current to step up voltage, but once you reach the current limit and the voltage limit of the battery there isn't much more it can do. As the charge drops the max voltage it can put out drops, if the current is already maxed out then total power output WILL decline. So really I would suggest a 2 battery setup for anything more than 30 watts. JMHO.

Thank you for the explanation scottP. In my dual 18650 mod I never had this issue even when the batteries are almost dead. How could this happen then?

Thank you for the explanation scottP. In my dual 18650 mod I never had this issue even when the batteries are almost dead. How could this happen then?

B/C with multiple batteries they are splitting the extra current burden so they can discharge lower. This is true until you increase wattage to the point that both batteries are maxed out and at that point you need 3 or even 4 batteries depending on desired wattage.

To explain what I mean by "maxed out" you should know that how much voltage a battery can deliver declines as it is discharged. So it may start out at 4.2 volts, after 30 min it might be at 4.0, after an hour 3.8 etc. How fast the decline is, varies by how often and for how long you use it. However let's say the wattage level you set requires 5.6v to reach, the mod uses a step up circuit to provide that voltage by pulling more current from the battery. As the battery drains down, the current requirement will keep going up in order to maintain that voltage though the step up circuit. "Maxed out" is the point where the batteries current drain abilities and current discharge voltage can no longer sustain the required voltage across the step up circuit. Using multiple batteries and splitting the current requirements the batteries can supply the required current at much lower discharge voltages.

I hope I explained this in a way that is understandable.

Not to make things worse but I guess I should also add that in the above explanation the hypothetical batteries are in parallel to one another which in effect will double the current but keep the base voltage the same.

IF the batteries are connected in series you are keeping the current potential the same but doubling the voltage output. However, if you have doubled voltage you can still discharge longer b/c you are starting out at 8.4 volts from your battery instead of 4.2. So if you only need say 5.6 volts you can discharge the batteries all the way down to the cutoff which is 3 volts each and still have more than enough to not even need the step up circuit.

A fellow member from another place has notified me of an "unsafe" issue with the Aegis so it is highly recommended that you update yours to the latest version which is 1.21 if you haven't done so.

Quote:"Aegis owners may want to watch this, apparently Phil has been working with GeekVape to solve some of the issues, notably one that made it "unsafe"

Temp control had issues that made it potentially unsafe...no prompting for old/new coil if you removed and put a hot tank on"

Skip to 13:20 for details about the Aegis..

Credit goes out to Stylemessiah :)

ETA: Note that you may get annoyed with the constant new coil message if you were to rest your mod after usages as there's a bug in V1.21 reported by ninogui (post #76)

There's currently a Firmware 1.23a that fixes the Old/New coil issue.
  1. NEW/OLD Coil question optimized
  2. Sleep Mode changed from 2 mins to 10 minus
  3. Temperature Control slightly improved
  4. Resistance lock added

I'm using a 18650 LG HG2 3000mAh and also a 26650 Golisi 4300mAh at about 30-40W. 18650 lasts me for almost the whole day and 26650 lasts the whole day, even more sometimes but I'm not a constant chain vaper.

I would suggest you switch over to a 26650 if you're vaping at that wattage and wants longer run time. Ijoy 26650 would be my recommendation.

I haven't loaded the latest firmware (1.23a) so I can't really let you know if the issue with voltage drop after 50% still occurs. I don't vape at often 50w so I can't really tell test it out.

Have not been in this forum for a while as have been busy locally as the ....e has his the fan in our state with new vaping legislation. More on that in another room. I have updated my Aegis but I do not use any 18650 battery. I stick to the 26650's and I am happy. Been out in all weather conditions with this mod and do not have an issue with it. My favourite combo is a VGod Pro Trick Tank with this mod.

The Copper top of the Vgod looks good with the brown leather on the mod.

Was browsing for new mod with a capable 18650/26650 and came across the Geekvape Aegis. Looks very slick and reminds me very much like the HCigar VT250 with the lethal like back cover. The backing of the Aegis looks somewhat like leather but it could be the advance injection molding of liquid silicone rubber.

Looks like the link is down at the moment(will update once it's back up) but found some info on the Heavengifts site: GeekVape Aegis 100W Box Mod

100W TC Mod and advertised as waterproof.
Not sure how I feel about this 'waterproof' feature but the mod does look nice.
I saw a video that showed taking the backing off a replacing it with whatever type of material you would want to customize the look. It looked pretty simple to do.

I am thinking about getting one of these to use out in my kayak. I currently have a Heatvape Mini, but at 50 watts I vape it at the maximum for my .25 ohm coils so the battery life isn't great and I always have to carry a spare. I saw on the Heat Vape facebook page that they are promoting the Geekvape Aegis. Could they be affiliated?

I've had mine a week. I haven't updated it, but I did replace the vinyl sticker with real leather. Now, I think the mod is as it should have been from Geekvape. A small piece of leather makes a big difference in feel and looks, I think. No more red stitching either! Overall, the mod is as close to perfect as I've seen. It sees much more use than my others now, even more than my SX Q mini.
