Just Want To Quit, TCR is the catch all for all wire types. You can use a TCR for the standard Ni200, Ti, SS, or anything else. The TCR value for Ni200 and Ti is pretty cut and dry and whatever manufacture's wire you use, will have the same TCR value. This is true because nickel and titanium are nearly pure of whatever they are.

SS is different, because it is an alloy of different materials. So manufacture A may use one process for their SS, while manufacture B uses another. Thus depending which one you use, the TCR maybe different. And the value most mods use for SS, will likely not to be correct for that wire (although hopefully it is close enough).

So on your mod for TC, you could use either the preprogramed wire types or use TCR. And if you are using the wrong setting (TCR) for the coil you are using, TC wont work correctly. But when the TCR is close to what the wire exactly is, it works but the temperature reading will be off. So to zero in on the correct TCR, you tweak the TCR value to calibrate the temperature reading.

Thanks BillW50, that really helped me out a whole lot! I just want to be sure when you say a "catch all" for all wire types you're basically saying for TC only wires NI, SS and TI (temp wires) right? Not including Kanthal of course?

So basically TCR mode is just more of a fine tuning mode when the preset TCR's In the normal TC modes (NI, TI, SS) aren't going to cut it when using builds and special wire types who's TCR doesn't match the preset defaults for each of the 3. I think I understand this right, If not, please let me know.

On my smok GPriv2 Lux that I sold a few weeks back, I remember going through the TC settings and it just let the user adjust the TCR from within the respective mode itself (NI, TI, SS)! So that's all I thought TCR was.. just a new adjustment setting within the TC modes themselves. I really don't understand why it needed it's own mode rather than to just enable the TCR to be adjustable in each of the 3 TC modes.

I guess it just really threw me off because I've never seen TCR have it's own mode before! Like I said, I just always assumed it was just a new setting in our TC modes that allowed adjustment of it's values.

One last thing, when we use TCR mode, is there any indication on screen that appears for the wire type we are using in the atomizer? Just as a confirmation that It recognizes that I indeed have SS in there? Or.. are these TCR values really so well defined like you said that it doesn't matter what wire type is in there due to the fact that the TCR ALONE is really what identifies the wire type in this mode? This is the way I'm understanding it, let me know if I missed something.

Thanks again! I appreciate it! Again, I haven't dealt with TC mode since the Toptank and Subtanks since Smok and so many other manufactuers don't offer TC options in their prebuilt coils. Now that Mesh RBA's are popping up and are supposedly much easier to build and wick on than traditional wire, I may consider it down the line since I had a lot of wicking problems in my subtank RBA's.

Hello fellow vapers!

I'm new to the forum and actually signed up to share my experience with the Legend and to ask if you've had the same issue.

I purchased the Legend a month ago and was very eager to get it. A friend of mine has the original Aegis and the build quality of that is simply incredible - over a year of use and it still looks mint. Sadly, my experience with the Legend has been far from that. Right out of the box I've noticed that the silicone is loose around the screen and the top of the mod. I was worried but thought that it would be tough enough and that this wouldn't be such an issue. A month has passed and the silicone has actually torn in three places (next to the screen, at the top edge and in front of the latch). I've opened tickets with both Geekvape and Gearbest for this, but wanted to check if you've noticed this problem with your devices as well. I think this is a serious design flaw that although not affecting the device operation, makes it rather uncomfortable to hold and unpleasing to look at.

Hope to hear your opinions on this. :)

Welcome to ECF.

Do not have that issue with either of my Legends, and given this is the first I’ve heard of it, I would say this is more of a manufacturing fault that slipped through QC than a design flaw.

A design flaw is a factor of poor design. This means every unit will suffer from this fault. A handful of faulty units out of tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, is not a design flaw

Hey Punk,

Thanks for your reply!

I thought that this might be a defective unit since on the other side of the screen the silicone is rock solid (i've tried prying it, but it won't come loose like the other side). I hope either Geekvape or Gearbest will step up and recognize this flaw.

This is my third huge disappointment with a mod (Vaporesso Target and Smok Mag failed miserably after a couple of months of use). I was hoping that Geekvape would finally break my bad luck streak... :(:(:(

I have 5 Aegis 100W and 3 Legends and I never seen this before. But now that you mentioned it, I grabbed one Legend and I tried to peel it off. And some spots it is pretty easy (glue seems weaker) and some places it is not. Then I grabbed one of the Aegis 100W and there is no seam to pick on and peel like the Legend has. I dunno, I think if the covering can get caught on something (maybe pulling them out of your pocket), they all can have this happen to them.

Hey man, thanks for your input.

That's the thing, I take it in and out of my pocket hundreds of times a day (I think that's expected from a pocket-sized device ). For something labeled as "The Indestructible Beast" on the package it's pretty disappointing that day-to-day use can result in such a problem.

Now don't get me wrong - I absolutely love the mod itself(despite the battery life quirk), it feels great in the hand and the camo one I've got is badass. It's just disappointing to think that I'll only get a couple of months of use out of it... :( I'd be reluctant to buy another GV product despite the good public opinion.

Wow that’s a shame! How disappointing. I’ve never heard of any issues similar to this. Definitely a good thing you opened a ticket. It needs to be replaced. I suppose every once in awhile a stinker gets thru the qc line just about everywhere.

Hopefully they will make it right as they should. Please follow up on this. I’d be interested to know how things are handled. Good luck!!

Sadly, GV have completely ignored me, because the mod was purchased from Gearbest. GB on the other hand said they can do nothing, since the device was still functioning and usable... They only offered to reimburse me 10$... I guess I'll spend those 10 bucks on a silicone skin for the mod. Again, happy with the performance, disappointed with the quality...:glare:

The only one of mine that isn't loose at the edges is the Mini. The 2 Legend 200s I've purchased and the 1 Legend 100 all have loose rubber along the glass but only a smidge like it's the overhang of a gasket or something because I can't pull it off any further than it is loose. If I dig my fingernail along the edge of the Mini I can feel a little give not as loose as its big brothers. One of my 200s has a bubble under the glass as well but it is still water tight

Just saw this thread and I too am a fan of the Aegis legends. I have a couple of them and probably my most durable mod. Wish they did not discontinue the Aegus 100w mod since I thought the battery type flexibility was a major pro. Was looking to purchase one once I can find a site that still stocks them.
The Aegis Mini was interesting but the built in battery was a turn off for me.

I bought an Aegis legend a month ago then it showed me the no atomizer found error ,tried a few RTA's and concluded the device was malfunctioning.
The vape shop from where i bought it closed down in the mean time leaving me without any warranty.
I contacted Geekvape and got in contact with April she arranged a replacement mod and even free shipping to my country.
Their customer support is great!!!!

That great! So did you send the malfunctioning one back at which time they’ll send you a new one?
