Also with the coil wire. Earlier ppl said use 24-26, the 28 will do but 24 26 better. Now use 28, its better than 24 26. These type of contradictories confuse ppl. I get it that its all personal taste, but the use this dont use this, then no dont use that use this can confuse the crap outa ppl.[/QUOTE]

I think the differences of opinions are from either using single or dual coils. 24g is fairly thick and if using it in single coil is good in resistances under .5. I think 26g is good from like .5 to around 1 ohm and 28g from 1 to 1.8ish. Now in dual coils , yes 28g can be a thick in 14 watt range

I use parallel mechs everyday and usually use 24g or 26g ss wire. I like a quick ramp and a warm vape so I aim between .12-.2 on round wire builds. The thicker the gauge, the longer it takes to ramp up and cool down. At this minute I am pulling on a dual parallel 26g ss 3mm coils at .14 resistance.

So, as Beck said, you will have to experiment to see where your preferences are. I was trying to get an idea of how you vape in my question before. You'll have to work to find this out. Keeping your batteries CDR in the forefront, use a calculator to construct a simple build that puts you in your 35-40w range. Throw it on a regulated and see how it vapes at say 3.7 to 4 volts.

EDIT:
Not sure if you plan on doing the maths yourself or using a calculator.
If you use an ohms calculator, you enter two values.
Enter the voltage and resistance and it will
Show you the amps drawn and wattage.

I've been saying the same thing for years now. If you are looking for the maximum wattage that you can get from a mechanical mod ... you have no business using a mechanical mod!
If you are looking for a quality vape within safe margins ... then a mechanical mod may work well for you.

I've used mechanicals for years, and have never had any sort of a problem. Mainly because a follow the simple rule of never exceeding 50% of the batteries CDR. That would mean a 0.4 ohm coil (10a) with a 20a battery. In reality though, I'm only drawing ~2a (1.8 ohm coil) from a 20a battery.

No biggie, not all is lost from them, i can still use them in the ohm meter that comes with the coil master v3.

Just don't fire the coil on the ohm meter using those batteries. Ohms law applies there as well.
