Yes yes yes! Hence the ecig....
Smoking is always considered to be dangerous that affects lungs and respiratory system of a human body. At the same time people who are addicted to smoking cannot quit smoking immediately and hence they approach this electronic smoking method to reduce the use of real cigarettes.

What amazes (and I've got to say--inspires!) me about this forum is the number of multi-decade, multi-pack smokers who have transitioned so well to PVs. I have no idea if there are studies that focus on how effective the various quit-aids are with people (like me) who have smoked for 30-40 years or more, but I'm going to guess the statistics wouldn't be very good. Yet, we seem to have a bunch of them here.

Is it because e-smoking is the only strategy yet designed that actually includes an element of pleasure?

It is absolutely because there is more than just an element of pleasure.

That is why there are so many folks that stopped smoking cold turkey that look at us that used PVs to quit as cheaters.

There is alot more to the 'damaging' effects of smoking than people are considering. There is a lot to do with genetics. My grandfathers both smoked. One smoked a pipe and the other smoked cigars. My father smoked cigarette most of his adult life. All three out lived most of their generation. My father, particularly, died at 92.

Most of the antis problem has nothing to do with health. It is all about control. I've never undestood the human need to control everyone else, while demonstrating over and over that they can not control themselves.

What was the Cat Steven's line? "He can't even run his own life.... I'll be damned if he'll run mine."

What I want to see come out of all this current contrast running amoke throughout the world is a return to live and let live. Each person taking care of their own back yard before making judgements and demands about the yard keeping of others. I want to see new folks in Washington looking over the laws regarding what is truly good for the country first, rather than their own pocket books. I want to see term limits on congress and a constitutional admendment that congress can never again exempt themselves from any laws they pass.

The first step would be for people to stop being 10x more critical of others than they are of themselves.

Why can't people see their own flaws???? :-x:mad:

I totally agree with you PaulB! It still astounds me the effectiveness and, your right the sheer pleasure of this product. I was a 2pk a day smoker of forty years and was extreme, if not militant about intending on continuing to smoke regardless of what anyone said or did. I ordered an e-cig out of curiosity - basically expecting it to be another hokey product that really sucks and I could continue to smoke regular cigarettes. That was Jan. 21, 2010 and I have not turned back since - I have been totally tobacco/smoke free since. I have not experienced any cravings, urges and/or "second thoughts re: tobacco smoking. I have experienced no negative side affects from vaping - quite the contrary, I've experienced all the health and general well-being benefits people report who have totally quit smoking altogether. I continue to be amazed and extremely grateful re: this technology and equally dismayed and appalled at the opposition to it. I am also very grateful for this forum and all the people who share their time, energy and support for others, themselves and this technology. I sincerely hope that together we can prevail.

I agree with you Mr. Holmes and I sincerely share your hope and vision for our future. Regarding your comments on why 'some' humans are determined to try and control "everyone else' and I would add 'everything else': I have been a professional counselor for the past twenty-five years and it is my firm belief that ALL control behavior, except of course, healthy self-control, is fear-based and fear is a very powerful, often destructive force. It is also what makes it so difficult to reason with these persons - typically they are unaware of the internal fears that drive their pathologic behaviors. Also most of them are oblivious to the negative effects their behaviors have on others because they so deeply feel and believe 'they are right and justified' in their views and actions.
