Many thanks for the good wishes, friends. This has been a tough year in terms of health issues for both my father and my father-in-law, and it's sometimes hard to remember just how fortunate we all are.

My father's health issues are undoubtedly smoking related--40+ years of smoking (first cigarettes and then gave them up in favor of cigars). He quit after his heart attack and bypass surgery in November, but since we got the not-so-great news about his bladder cancer being a bit more advanced than we had thought, he seems to be picking up the cigars again--4 in the last week.

It's an indication of just how wicked a hold tobacco has on folks. It's a shame, but I can't get him at all interested in vaping, not even with a cool e-cigar. :(

But on a more pleasant note, our entire family is heading off Friday for the Outer Banks of North Carolina for our annual beach pilgrimage. Believe it or not, my parents and all of their children and grandchildren go, and we're now up to 18 this year. Fortunately, the house we rent is a very large one. ;)

So if I'm not around much the next week or so, know that I'm hanging out on the beach drinking margaritas and thinking of y'all. :D

Calling all Emeraldites!!!

JustJulie has been absent from our midst - and I just found out her Father is undergoing some bladder cancer troubles.

They will be starting chemo treatments....

Let's add Julie and Family to our list of prayers!
Julie so sorry to hear about this! Am definitely sending my best wishes and prayers to you and your family!!! We have a good track record here in the Emerald City. Our prayers and thoughts work wonders! Be strong!

Vicks--awesome blog. How in the world do you find the time to do so many things . . . and, more importantly, do them well? :)

Time to finish cleaning out the fridge and doing the 100 million little things one must do before leaving for a week.

Thanks again for your prayers and thoughts--they're all very appreciated. And I'm crossing my fingers that the good wishes from my EC friends will work their magic.

I'll try to check in from the beach. In the meanwhile, y'all be good and take care!

Thanks, Taz - it's appreciated. I just need to find time to put together additional info...I've got the next 2 entries started, but I need to tighten them up so they don't sound like conspiracy theory rants. :)
Stay tuned...

Your so right conspiracy theorys will not help, just makes us look like nuts, even if were right. The facts are better ever time, conspiracy theory turn me off and tune me out. Keep up the good work, better to take your time.

JustJulie, hope your Dad gets better soon.

Edit: New blog entry has just been posted: Social Dynamics and the Demonization of Smoking.....Enjoy!

I'm the same way - conspiricy theory makes my eyes glaze over...

Rocking party last night, Wiz - you sure know how to throw a gala!

We'll have to do it again, real soon :D
