Hello everyone, just saw a post regarding the fact that when you use a stainless steel wick its normal for your juice to turn dark/black? Is this true? I have not set one up with a stainless steel mesh and just ordered one( a cheapie, to try) I dont know, if I would like that, has anyone else had this happen and does it affect the flavour? I spend quite a bit on juice and some are very subtle and wonder if this is really something for me.
Most people rave about how a genesis set up is the way to go for pure clean taste.

my juice does darken some from either air or in contact with metal. Not sure which. Taste to me isnt affected. Try it. You cant beat a genesis type atty for flavor and vapor. Start with a cheapie and see if you like it.

That good to know. Also, it the vape much warmer in a genesis type of setup? I do like my juice on the coolish to slightly warm. I set my Kicked Saber Touch to 8watts and when I check the voltage its at about 4.25 which is plenty warm. I vape a lot of tobaccos and when I set the wattage any higher they tend to loose their subtly and get too much TH for me. I will probably pick up a clone, as they are really coming out left and right in the co-ops and got vapes.

There's lots of different designs. Generally I think top feed designs where the coil is underneath the tank (e.g. the Genisis LV2) will give a cooler vape than a bottom fed design. Also the ones with a smaller atomisation chamber (e.g. DID mini) are likely to be hotter.

Every wick I have used in 4 years has darkened my juice, this isn't specific to SS genesis. It is impossible to prevent leaching thru backflow of the gunk from the coil back to the juice. Every wick does it to some extent, we just have to live with it.

Also to add. I vape a lot of Boba's Bounty, and it can darken up. You don't notice it much in the smaller tanks, but in the larger ones you do. I believe the sweetener has some play in this also, along with burning it to hot if there is a short etc... When I vape non-sweet tobacs from AVE, I have no darkening of e-liquid... YMMV of course and a solid wick will also help a lot.

Some juices will get darker quicker.
Some juices will gunk up coils faster.
Juice is very sensitive to light and heat, both can make it turn quickly.
All juices in any atomizer will turn to some degree.
I personally think the genesis style is actually better at keeping it clean.......at least for me, kinda depends on how well you make wicks and coils tho.

I have a strawberry cheesecake juice that turns very dark very quickly and dirties up a coil pretty fast, the great part about a genesis style is you can just quickly (and cheaply) just change out the coil if/when the flavor starts to drop off too bad.

On the other hand I have juices that don't hardly turn at all. Below is a "FrankenBerry"(like the cereal) juice that pretty much stays crystal clear. This coil/wick is about 6 days old, 1.5ohm @ about 4v..........I topped this tank of last night, it sat all night laying on it's side and I've been vaping it all day......

Yes, we're discussing this in another thread. Heat/gunk do contribute, and a short will definitely turn it darker quicker. Chain vaping can as well. There are many factors w/ heat being the most contributing I believe.

What are the non sweet tobaccos you speak of? I'm always on the lookout, my all day/every day vape for almost three years is non sweet tobacco.

a tobacco man, huh. I really like The Plume Rooms tobaccos. Especially good smooth and non sweet are the Romaglias Tuscany and the Twisted Turkish. Both have a great scent and the Turkish smell heavenly. If you want a real grassy no nut, straight tobacco with a kick you might try Ahlusions Devil Dog, just like its name its barks is as strong as its bite. Its not an all day, but good when in the mood for a good bite. Their Bluegrass is also great, a bit smoother. Both have a good TH . I order 50/50 blend at 12 nic. They recommend a higher VG for best enjoyment, that could be why I have such a strong flavour. I had to add a bit of pg and vg cause it was kicking me in the throat, but tastes good. Heathers heavenly also have good ones, but not as strong.

Also GOode-juice makes some awesome tobaccos. Their organic tobacco blend is wonderful, smooth and not sweet or nutty. All of these are what are called NET/ naturally extracted tobacco. They are great ( to me) but if you are a carto user , not very carto friendly. Something about real tobacco does this. The heathers are much more carto friendly, try their Pirates booty, real nice straight slightly spiced tobacco.

PS. If I had to live with only one juice house THe plume room would be it, even if their tobaccos cut my cartos lives, its worth it. The Plume room is my favorite, I dont like sweet dessert/ candy like flavours but even their Lemon Chiffon Pie is so subtle. They also have a candied cavendish Tobacco, that I hesitantly tired , and its is wonderful, a sllight subtle sweet tobacco flavoured with a suggestion of fruit.

I could go on and on, but any tobacco from the Plume Room is good. Ive tried most of them.

Same here, I'll just pull the old coil off, give the wick a very light and quick torching to burn off any caked up old juice then a couple quick fresh juice burns and wrap a new coil.

# of my 4 genesis style atomizers are on the 3rd or 4th coil with the same wick with no performance impact.......if anything the wicks get even better.

I'm using a DID mini clone on a DNA box, even cranked up to 12 watts, the vapor isn't nearly as warm as a vivi nova running at 4.5 watts on my 3.7V mod.
