Thanks for the replies! Guess when I get my Natural, I'll find it easier to use "proper" gear outside. The vamo is simply too big and shiny. Or, I have to man up.

@StaircaseWit, thanks for the confidence. Think only time I've seen a proper hard short is when experimenting with un-oxidized wicks anyways. Guess I'm safe if I do my usual low-oxidization and check for conductivity on a Vamo-viable coil.

Thanks!!

Would a coat hanger be to thick to wrap a wick?

I cant remember if I posted here or elsewhere bout the pulse method, but recently tried it. Used 2 x 2 in 400 mesh and after coil set up didnt work right. Was getting alot of bunt taste. Pulled wick n coil got new unoxidixed mesh cept did 2 x 1 in 400 mesh with largest hole I could and used cig paper method. Even with full charge 4.2 volt battery no burnt taste. Think it wicks better in my opinion.

Does leaving a hole down the center of the wick help wicking?

This is one of those what may work for one person may not work for the other. Some people roll a solid wick and choke the hell out of the wick with the coils, while others roll a thick tube with loose coils. I prefer the latter with the juice I am using and pinch off the tip if I need to. By theory straws provide a faster flow, sometimes too fast if you tip at 90 degrees.

I roll a solid wick and don't choke the wick with the coils at all. I use the Zen coil basics method of spinning the device while wrapping and get excellent results with a relatively loose coil.

I think the extreme for me is doting the I's and crossing the T's, I want my first attempt to succeed!

Take your time with the coil and make sure you get a nice even glow on every coil and you should get a good setup on your first try, that's good enough, is not good enough when it comes to this step. I think wicks are much less important than coils, I have yet to roll a wick that doesn't work but have had a number of coils that took much tweaking to get a nice even glow. Good luck, I hope your first try is a success!

Since I got my first genesis all my other gear has been put away. I tried a Terminator-C but it just wasn't what I had hoped. My forth geny is on it's way from Greece right now, I have a DiD clone, a ZAP, and an AC9, with a real DiD on the way. I still want a Cobra. Then I think I will start trying out some of the other Chinese genies like the AGA, RSST, and Cobra clone.

The real Cobra is my favorite of all my Gennies, I have a pretty good collection as well, including a real DID and a Gemini. I like the tighter draw on the real Cobra, as it seems to intensify the flavor and throat hit over my "airier" Gennies. The Gemini is probably my second favorite, the vape is great with that small air chamber.

Spoken by the guy who just bought another highend rba LOL I too went wild with highends. It's totally amazed me that I've done this. When I used carto tanks I had no desire to purchase the "highend" ones. I looked at the phiniac tanks but was never tempted to actually spend that much when my inexpensive co-op dctanks (less than $4 apiece) did a nice job. I didn't care about collecting and I was actually proud to show them off and declare "Hey! Here's my XX with a dctank and it looks awesome!"

I'm embarrassed on how much I've spent on my 3 highends. But even after having said that, I don't regret buying them.

Yep, this gets to be an expensive road to go down, damn those classifieds, I can't stay off them.
