If anyone has a handful of dead eGo's with USB pass-through from the juice getting in the switch, I'd be willing to fix them with a new Riva type switch (blue LED type & 4.2V that drops down with use) and I'll put on new eGo threads too. Send me 2 by cheap post and I'll send you one back working. Costs me about $6-7 bucks to fix them and it reduces e-waist to the landfill.. So a trade plus our mailing cost I think is fare.

BTW, I'm not a electronics hack, I have some college electronics training and have been kit building since I was a kid. I will ensure returned eGo's are not Fire hazard. Some repairs vids I saw people doing were reckless fire/fume hazards waiting to go off. We don't want to be putting those near our face! Yikes!

eGO USB/Passthrough were a bad idea. We were replacing every second one, until it became just easier to clear them out at ½ price with no warrantee, odds were one of the 2 would work.

Using them as a passthrough put far too much stress on the battery and failure resulted. The problem in that regard was that USB ports for the most part don't put out enough power to run anything bigger than the weak obsolete atomizers of 2 years ago, the stress was taken by the battery. More of a design concept flaw rather than a manufacturing issue.

Regular Joye eGO batteries are bomb-proof lasting months. Failure rates are less than 2%, usually being from mechanical quality issues. Hey, all this stuff is from China and relatively inexpensive, so a small rate of failures can be expected. Personally the paint falls off mine, and or they get lost before they wear out. I've only ever replaced 1 of my personal eGO batteries due to failure.

Joye is in the process of branding all their products with the Joye logo. This may or may not stop clones.

They should never have been sold by Joye for Pass-through use. Use during last top up of charging is where damage to the batteries can occur. Also Vaping while on a USB delivers a constant 4.2V to one side of the MOSFET, their MOSFET may not be robust enough to handle this voltage input and current draw for a prolong time.

I would recommend to let them charge without use!!! They should last as long as regular eGo's then. Or until the juice or water from wet hands seeps into the switch.

They also charge great on Macs. All the Macs that are 2010 or later have a higher current on the USB port then average PCs and have built in over current draw and short circuit protection.

One of my interests in the USB variant of eGo's is for the barrel style USB charge circuit for mods. I would also like to refurbish some to give to persons on disability who otherwise wouldn't venture into e-cigs due to a lack of funds.
