Yes i know this could go in the health section of the forum....

My GERD is literally choking me. My neck spasms have my neck looking like a wrestler on roids.

18mg doesn't seem to high but when i vape alot my GERD kicks in full gear. I'm down to unflavored 100%VG.

Anyone have anything like this?? My breathing almost feels like an asthma attack coming on. This has me very bummed as i don't want to stop vaping...

Thanks
Dano

Try increasing your water intake when you are vaping a lot. You can also use some apple cider vinegar, just a shot to cut any acid secretions.

Dano,

Commencing 1973, after original surgeries on internal injuries in '69 post air crash in VN, I have had 11 surgeries for ulcers and esophageal repairs since. I have GERD within the definition here: Gastroesophageal reflux disease - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Does that, more or less, define your situation? If so get medical help stat!, now!! If you perforate the left gastric artery you can hemorrhage internally to death in under 4 minutes. I nearly have, twice.

The condition can be quite deadly but can be effectively treated.

Do consume more water with vaping, good advice.

DO NOT USE CIDER VINEGAR, sorry to shout, Hell!! it is acid, you already have too much and you're going to have to effectively control it with something that really works or you could end up pushing it to peroration or maybe esophageal cancer. Probably something like Prilosac, an H2 receptor blocker will be prescribed. Plain old antiacids will probably not work very well, if at all.

For godsakes go see a doctor soon, ok?

I'm just an old semi-retired engineer/attorney not doctor, but I have over 40 years with this damned disease, guess I'm lucky. I have 20% of my stomach left and have 5 feet less of the upper part of small intestine. Nutrient assimilation is poor. Used to weigh 190-205 at 6'2", now struggle to maintain 135 to 140 on nearly baby food, low acid, no chili roja o verde, no pasta and marinara, nothing exciting, just gray blotter food. Bleah! Oh, no booze, zip, nada. I used to love WT 101.

Go to a doctor. Take care of yourself.

End of sermon. Sorry, just care.

so far they have prescribed nexium and reglan.

i need to make changes for sure.

Pretty much the same as I take. Have you had surgery? If not, you don't really want such, unless you absolutely have to. Of course now they do everything laprascopicly, I have zippers on me that are great for war stories. Sucks. One time they cut my vagus nerve intending to slow down acid production. It didn't work. Have 2 side effects tho. "Post Vagotomy ........" and "Dumping syndrome"(30 seconds from bowl to bowl)( a joke)? Do you have dairy intolerance and/or gluten intolerance.

You've probably heard all of this before but:

GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) - Dr. Weil

Good luck,

Norman

Darned good advice.:thumb:

Do you have a gastroenterologist(alimentary specialist)? A ways down on the list is aspirin, naproxin, ibuprofin----DON'T!!! I can only have tylenol(hard on liver--note!!) and oxycontin pain meds that I quarter into 1/4s with a hospital grade pill splitter. I hate the latter, it just barely keeps a lid on the pain and sometimes I feel "remote", not stoned, just a bit separated, maybe through a glass, darkly. I've got a lot of tin screws, rods, plates and whatever in me so my ribs, right shoulder and hip work. The VN S-75s(SAMS) apparently had depleted uranium in them, our side says. The fragments migrate over the years in one's body. Schiess!

Forget me, GET a gastro-doc and get this thing under control, ok?

pace i salute, ciao. Sempre Avanti(Always Forward!!!)

Might not be applicable but I was in pain for a few years and on $$ medicine for GERD/reflux, well fast forward a few years and one night I thought this is it, extreme pain could not handle. Went to ER and in 30 minutes they trouble shot it to be a humongous Gall stone! Emergency surgery, a few complications and after a few days I felt like new. Turns out it was a mis-diagnoses of sorts, I did have acid reflux but the nasty pain was due to Gall bladder issues! Try to get a second diagnoses, it can only help.

all very good advice.
i'm gonna drop some lbs and eliminate quite few items from my menu to start with.

its the neck and breathing part that panic me.

I posted in the Lounge thread, Dan, but I WOULD try lowering my nic if I were you. (Of course, I'm not you.....go figure. LOL) I get heartburn when it's time for me to lower my nic....it's a sign. And lowering the nic helps....until (few months, usually) it's time to lower it again. I've dropped my nic level about three different times now. Be a shame to get down to zero, wouldn't it....hahaha.

Also, what PG/VG ratio do you vape? Maybe one or the other of those is causing a problem. And I hope you're drinking LOTS of water.....more water than you'd ever think you needed or wanted.

What zodduska said: I also drink MOSTLY water....I drink less coffee than I ever did before, and almost NO soda.....just don't even want it anymore.

What nic level are you vaping? Has it been the same from the beginning? Maybe time for a drop? Let's figure this out. Focus. LOL

Thanks Jan

I just ordered 500ml of 6mg from Wizard Labs. John was awesome to deal with, gotttta love great customer service.
This week I've given up all coffee, alcohol, and food except for a few limited items(oatmeal, lettuce and chicken breasts).

Only slight improvement so far. Giving up beer for even a month or so is gonna drop a good bit of weight off...

Well, if a by-product of this problem is that you get healthier, maybe it's not such a bad thing. And I'm hungry right now, so oatmeal, lettuce and chicken breasts sound pretty good (NOT in that order....LOL.) Hope the lowered nic helps....I'm thinking it just might. And I'll bet you won't notice it too much....you may find yourself vaping a little MORE than you have been, at least at first. That's usually what happens to me.....more of less. :) Keep us in the loop.

Oh, yeah.....good customer service is a dying art. I've found that this little e-cig industry is just full of people who actually seem to care about their customers and their business. It's refreshing. Of course there are exceptions, but overall.....I've had very good experiences. I get my nic from Wizard Labs. Good stuff.

As an ulcer/gerd veteran may I suggest abstaining from all forms of pepper and other "exciting" seasonings/dressings, etc. Maybe have to discover just what experientially. If weight is an issue watch the salt of course.

Pace i salute,
peace and health.

ciao.

I'm sorry, and I realize this is not constructive in any way, but
