curious, curious people here..

Well, I can't read my name because it has a "Top Secret" stamp over it. I'm 21, from Switzerland (you know, the tiny country with cheese and chocolade and the Large Hadron Collider (particle accelerator). I smoke for about 5 years.
Well, I'm a programmer, I'm in love with the internet and, all in all, a geek. Therefore, most of my hobbies are PC-related, like programming, surfing, gaming. I also like to read and am interessed in cryptography, steganography and privacy.
I'm an atheist and like to annoy in-your-face-christians with logic :p (SCNR)
Oh, and I'm a furry. Feel free to PM me if you have a problem with that, I'm used to it

I went to the LHC open day on April 6th - absolutely astonishing engineering, only 22 days to go till switch on ! (and 2+ years for meaningful results to be derived from the data - unless they can't find the Higgs boson).

Hot damn! You two will be among to first to let Americans know a black hole has been generated and matter is disappearing! I'm so excited.

Nah, we have to do it. It's our nature. We have to find the answers to everything. I'll be the first to let you know when the Super Volcano under Yellowstone National Park erupts, taking half the western U.S. with it. I promise I'll let you know when the cloud begins drifting over Florida.

I'd love to see it, SJ, before the Big Bang.

Just poking fun at the fear that the particle collision will be The Beginning of The End.

Now where did I put my "The End is Near" sandwich board. Haven't used it since Kennedy and Kruschchev squared off over the Cuban Missile Crisis and blockade. I was in college then and we just knew our days were numbered before a misguided missile thunked down on our Central Florida campus. But we had a great time! I mean .. what would you do on the night before your last day on Earth? Woo-hoo. Let the good times roll.

Greetings Y'All!
43 year old, devastatingly handsome college prof, whose passions include traveling the Caribbean, ragtops, fine rum and his lyrically beautiful wife: a former miss teen USA and medical anthropologist... 6 cats--no kids, and we REALLY like it that way... a unremarkably simple story really... :p a devout smoker for 25+years.

p.s. Tropic of BOB..another connection! i have been a gearhead since the 80's! When i get back to visit the StepMONSTER... dinner's on me-- PrawnBroker's work 4 U?

Like Klaue, I'm an atheist too.
I think that's somehow connected. The percentage of atheists seem to be higher in computer related fields..

Oh, and Bob.. Is there anywhere an awesomer way to go than to be sucked in a black hole that's consuming the earth? :p
Ok, to be hit with some anti-matter would also be cool..
Sorry, I can just imagine myself being sucked in a black hole and my last thoughts would be "this is so awesome" :D

Somehow, I see the mini-hysteria over the impending Big Bang as a bit funny (but I do look at the world kind of cockeyed). One of my recent reads was the NYT bestseller, "God Is Not Great." And it notes that religious types often wish for the world to end -- NOW. It would be kind of sweet revenge, they believe. All the true believers would be raptured up to heaven and all the folks who didn't believe exactly as they did (myself included) would suffer on earth. Plus, nothing would ever happen after this End-of-Time Armagedden, and they like that idea, too. It's comforting to think you won't miss out on the Cure for Cancer, cloning, species creation, limb and organ regrowth, cell tweaking, nano surgeons, replicators, etc. And better e-cigs.

They must LOVE the particle collider! Break out the sandwich boards. Only 21 more days before we're Heaven-bound. For the nervous nannies, the Times Square board should become a giant countdown clock ... Only 20 shopping days left to enjoy all that your prosperity (and credit you'll never have to pay off) can afford. buy now! Hey, it might jump start our dead economy.

BananaDoc: You're on.

Not exactly, the percentage of atheists is higher in hard/positive sciences in general (which includes computer science, mathematics, physics etc) according to a study I've read about. That makes sense, as scientists don't usually take for granted things that are not verifiable.

(excuse my english)

Well I reckon I'll go. I'm 36 years old. Married with 1 very rambunctious 3 year old boy. I live in the Ozarks of Missouri and I LOVE it here. I'm a disabled veteran. I shattered my ankle in the Army in 1991 and slowly over the years it has messed up my back. Of course getting the VA doctors to admit that is like pulling teeth.

Anyway, I'm a cancer survivor and medically a mess. I walk with a cane, basically lot's of problems but I try not to let them get me down. My wife works while I stay home with the boy. In some ways it's good because I do get to spend a lot of time with him.

Politically I'm libertarian/states rights. IMHO the Democrats and Republicans are two sides of the same coin.

Religion, I'm a Christian, I would classify myself as an "independant" Christian though. I'm not the type to shove it down someone's throat. As for as what's right and what's wrong? Well I certainly ain't gonna judge anyone else.

That's about all I'm gonna discuss about politics and/or religion. I'm not here to discuss or debate that.

Other than that. Well I'm a huge football fan. Both pro and college. I'll add more later. I'm hungry and can't concentrate. :D

Ozarks of Missouri --- was there as a very young boy and LOVED it ... beautiful place

CaSHMeRe's Short Bio:
My name is Steve and I am 23 years old. Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. I am a Christian and one of the rare conservative's here. I was an honor student who was bored in high school and dropped out my senior year. Passed the GED and have done some college. I currently run a Consulting Firm and actually enjoy it for the most part. I hope to own several of my own businesses someday and get out of this horrible state.

I have a beautiful fiance, 2 kitties, 1 pitbull/german shepherd mix dog, and 1 pure bred saint bernard little girl. i LOVE sports (Lakers, Dodgers, and UCLA) and enjoy doing things with my girls. I love snowboarding, water sports, and getting tattoo's

I started smoking at 13, quit September 12, 2007. Miss the "oral fixation" of smoking, and now learning more about e-smoking. My fiance's mother told me straight up that she did not want her daughter marrying a smoker ... to say the least, that ended my relationship with my soon to be mother in law. I eventually quit under my own accord and very happy I did

I teach online classes for Ozarks Technical Community College -- I have students all over Missouri. Hope you haven't had the flooding problems where you are.
We haven't had too many problems in my town during the recent rains but we got nailed a few months ago. The weather has been crazy around here this year. Living on the edge of Tornado alley we usually have interesting weather in the spring but this year has been nuts.

On this link click the video. http://ozarksfirst.com/content/fulltext/?cid=18917

This is about 3 months ago. This is in Ozark MO, the town I live. Stop the video at 1:11. Notice the bald guy with the blue jeans, black jacket and a cane, that's me. The little boy in the brown hoodie to the left of me is my son. And the girl in the black hoodie is the girl that babysits for us.

LOL, that was something I always suspected but never had read anything about :p :p
You're very correct about shoving religion/nonreligion in people's faces, and we're also way offtopic.
However, its hard to remind myself not to do so, taking upon consideration that I live in a country with very religious people that shove their religion to everyone's face, all the time. :(

Guess it can be my turn.

My name is Dustin. I'm 26, and i am a nicoholic.

Anyway, I'm married and have a 1 year old son. I've smoked since i was 16, quit a few times, but obviously started back up again.

I'm going to school for Journalism, even if i disagree with the state of most current journalists. No idea what i am actually going to do with my life. I've written a few books, only one self published. Don't know what else to say.

Oh here is a little tidbit. I would call myself a Liberal if people still used the term correctly. Instead. i'm libertarian and an atheist. guess that is it for now.

cheers,
-Dusty-

Michelle, your English is better than a lot of natural English speakers that I know.

I don't even want to think about how many of us could speak Greek. I've visited your wonderful country about 6 times, and I still can't say anything except Baklava. ;)
