.. Difference seems to be that a hit of
"real" smoke would often have a decongestant effect while the 80VG/20PG is just plain nasty.

The VG thing makes me choke up in few hours.Bacteria love VG.

PG being germicide kills off bugs as long as there is vapor in the lungs.

I noticed this a long time ago. I used to get a couple colds every year and in the almost 5 years I've been vaping (and not smoking) I think I may have had 2 very mild colds and they went away within a couple day with no lingering cough. I can't remember the last time I got sick. A month ago I felt my throat getting scratchy, like I was going to get sick but it went away. This can't be a coincidence. It seems everyone around me is getting sick but me. :)

What PG/VG ratio do you use? :)

When I smoked I would have colds nearly all winter long. I have a disease that requires me to take multiple medications (all of which destroy my immune system). I believe smoking and the meds were the reason I was always sick.

I have been vaping exclusively since November 2012 and I have not been sick in over 2 years..

For balance, it would be nice to hear from those that are still getting colds/sickness and what ratio of PG/VG are being used. :)

for the longest - i was vaping between 80p/20v and 60p/40v juices - quite recently is when i changed up my ratios to accomodate for this dripper, now using 50p/50v or higher VG

I agree.

On p. 1 of this thread, I thought things were going that way. Since then, the thread is going in the direction I hoped.

I vape at 50/50 ratio almost all the time. I would also remind the jury that I do still smoke / enjoy smoking. but like 2 a week. I think I've bought 2 packs in 2015 and never finished the first one (I can only smoke stale cigs up to a certain point).

Would be interesting if this thread kept producing similar results and we then understand reason #2 (perhaps even reason #1) why BP is against people vaping. Perhaps it has nothing to do with the nicotine or smoking cessation aspect at all.

I don't know if i'm allowed to post links from news sites here, if not...then forgive me and please delete my post. But speaking of colds, etc.....i found this article very promising in regards to vaping and health :)

I like the article and like that you linked it, but it was already posted 2 posts above yours (see #32).

It's also from 2009, which ought to tell anyone paying attention why BP might not want people vaping (PG) without them in charge or regulation.

I do think in last 3 years, there are numerous times (like 10 or more) where I woke up thinking I may be getting a cold, then by end of the day felt like I was over whatever symptoms I was experiencing earlier in the day.

I think there are many factors that go into this phenomenon (of my getting less colds than prior to vaping). I could list them all, but near the top would be that I think the PG (or other ingredient) in eLiquid fights off colds and either prevents them from occurring or relieves symptoms very quickly.

I haven't really counted colds either before or after vaping. However, the quote above does resonate with my experience. I can clearly recall multiple occasions when I felt like I was getting a cold, only for the symptoms to dissipate by the evening.

I've had what feels like a mild to moderate cold for what is coming on a month now. But this is not unusual for me this time of year. You live here and try not to get sick lol. Anyways, it's actually good news because at least 50% of the 5-6 colds I'd get every year would worsen and turn into bronchitis, bad cough with massive phlegm production that lasted a couple weeks at the minimum. But so far since vaping, no cold has turned into bronchitis. So I'll call that a victory.

I haven't thought about it but now that I have, I haven't had a cold or the flu since I started vaping. I've always gotten sick at least once during the winter and have several colds. I haven't had the first symptom and that seems very strange to me especially since I haven't had any flu shots. I work in bad weather welding on power plants and used to get what we call boiler flu every year workin on coal burners and breathing the fly ash. But none of that now. I don't know if I should attribute it to vaping but I can't think of anything else.
