Hey all.

I recieved my eGo-T in the mail last week and love it. However, it seems that vaping has given me an awefully sore throat...so much that I now only take 20 or so puffs in the past few days. My soft pallate is red around the edges and very sore even when not vaping or swallowing. It hurts when i vape, talk, eat, or drink. Needless to say Im pretty miserable.

For juice Ive tried 100%PG, 65/35 (PG VG), and 100% VG all at either 18mg or 12mg nic level. Nothing seems to really make that much of a difference. Ive also been drinking water like crazy (even more than normal, which is a lot). Ive been sucking down cough drops, taking ibuprofin, and even turned a humidifier on when i sleep. I feel like ive tried everything but my throat is still not healing. I went to the doctor yesterday and got checked for strep and other viruses and it all came up negative. Not even a cold.

How long does this "break in" period last? I cannot wait until I can start vaping normally! Anyone else been in this position?

It does dehydrate you but you already know. Maybe instead of gulping water, you just need to constantly keep the mouth and throat moist by sipping every few puffs or so?

I gave up more flavor with PG and vape more VG to sooth my throat. Depending on the juice brand and flavor you vape, some will irritate throat more than others. I've had some juice that woke me up coughing, but not the irritated soft palate issue. It could be some other ingredients in your juice? Nicotine could also irritate but you're not vaping a high level.

If you just quit smoking, there may also be some detoxing going on. Good luck and hang in there!

Thank you. I appreciate the encouragement. I'm hoping its just my body adjusting to being off analogs combined with getting used to the vape that is causing it and it will end soon. My wife has experienced no problems using the eGo, but then again she was even less of an analog smoker than I was and she probably doesn't vape as much as I do either (even though its not much compared to many folks). I'm using juice from AVE and Nite Lite Vapor at the moment.

It did me like that at first a few times but goes away the next day. It will smooth out in no time and you can chain vape all your heat desires :D The PG did it to me though the VG was fine and never made my throat hurt at all. So try vaping VG for a few days.

This is what I can't wait for!! I have a bunch of different juices staring at me that I want to try out! I've been on Boba's Bounty (100% VG) exclusively for the past two days in hopes that it will help me heal faster. Even then I've barely been vaping.

AVE is all VG so that rules out the PG issue. Have you tried to vape only one brand/flavor for a day to isolate the problem?

Yeah, I've been on Boba's Bounty exclusively the past two days. Maybe my throat is still irritated from the PG? It was mostly 65PG 35VG though, so I'm really hoping that its not the liquid and its just my throat adjusting to vapor.

It can be caused by several things...flavoring, pg, the difference/adjustment to vaping, and nic content. Your throat has been used to smoke for ? of years. Vaping in a new type of critter which I hope you can adjust too. Majority of the nicotine that we are ingesting is through our mouths/throat. Nic is very irritating itself.

I was a smoker for about 13 years (on average a pack every 2 days).

How are you puffing? I'm sure you know you're supposed to take slow, steady puff into mouth, then inhale. It's a little different than smoking. Also, too much power and the vape gets hot, could also hurt.

I take a slow, 4-5 second drag and let the vapor sit in my mouth before inhaling. This is how I smoked analogs as well. The vapor coming out of the eGo is warm, be definitely not "hot" feeling. Is the eGo-T considered a high or low power PV? I have the standard atty and the LR (haven't even used the LR yet).

Well, scratch another possibility. The eGo is about 3.4 volts, not considered high power. I use an eGo-like Riva, but at 3.7 volt, it's still not that hot a vape.

Yeah, I'm stumped. I think everything with the PV and the juice is fine . . . probably just me adjusting to it.

I went threw this. it lasted me about 2 weeks. i also spit up some thick butterscotch looking flem. it wasnt a good time. i never changed liquids i just made myself vape it. dont quit. once you get threw this youll feel much better.

That's good to know. I haven't coughed up anything yet. I never really was a "cougher" . . .even when I smoked I never coughed. Probably be good if I did because I'm sure there is some nasty stuff in there. Thanks for your input!

My 2 cents: this happened to me when I got some juices that had high VG content. Prior to that I had been using PG based, although I didn't know it at the time as I had just started vaping. VG really messed me up something awful, sore throat, dark phlegm, and if you want the details on that feel free to search my posts from around May or June. After going back to 100% PG it was still a good two weeks before I was well again. I've since tried liquids with VG in them but anything over 20% and I can feel the sickness coming back on quickly. I understand most people who go through what you're experiencing have it the other way around, but I'm proof that it is not always so.

Interesting. I have heard of it mostly the other way around. I guess everyone is different. I'll stick with VG untill this passes and slowly incorporate the PG back in just to see if that was causing it. I hope not though, as I have a lot of tasty PG juices!
