I've had my Ithaka for about two and a half months, and it usually wicks really well. Recently (the past 2 weeks) I've been experimenting with Bishopheals' dual twisted coils. I've been using 4 wicks with dual twisted 32 awg at about 1.5 inches ohming out to ~1 ohm (I measure it with my girlfriend's Provari, I don't know why it's so high; I use 28 awg Nickel NR wire). It was working wonderfully all the while I've been using it, very rarely any dry hits.
However, last night I started experiencing dry hits when I'd fire for about 6-10 seconds. So I started doing research and I found that some people don't wrap the coil around the wick too tight and others fray the wick in the channels. After reading this I decided to try both methods, I wrapped the coil a paperclip's width looser AND frayed the wick in the channels. I test fired with juice for about 10-13 seconds (like Bishop did) and there were no hotspots, it was looking good. However I'm stilling getting those dry hits. I figured I'd just open the juice control more to about 8-10 turns (super wide open). It works better, but I'll still occasionally get those dry hits.
I guess my question to my fellow GG lovers is if you have any other suggestions. I personally feel like 8-10 turns open is a little extreme, considering I'm using 4 wicks AND I've been using it for over 2 months with almost no problems. But if this is normal to everyone, that's totally fine too!
I appreciate you guys taking the time to read this whole thing and I'm excited to hear any suggestions you have!

EDIT: On my new build, I'm not even using a fully charged battery.
