just feeling harrased for vaping in public. I have no choice but to vape in public since im basicly staying at a hospital right now in cali with .y husband. He has some health issues and we were flown down here. Anyways Im a very polite vaper or I try to be. I go where no one else is and o done blow it at people. Im not trying to force anything on anyone but people give me dirty looks and say "theres no smoking" say that in ur most annoying voice btw lol. Its funny sometimes people cough cus they dont see its vapor. So its kinda funny people are subconsciously choking on smoke thats not there. Best smelling smoke ive ever smelled! Anyway let me know if any of you have experienced this. Thanks for letting me vent a little.

I had someone lecture me in the street. Told him I do it because some people smell bad and I need to freshen my air. 
If someone told me "there's no smoking" while I was vaping I would kindly reply,"I'll make sure I tell that to the first person I see smoking." 
As far as looks I get the odd one here and there but with a bald head, tattoo's, and piercings that's nothing new. I was fortunate enough to be born with idgaf syndrome.

When people get rude to me I lose all tolerance for them or their feelings..then I reach into my back pocket and pull out my old standby response:
"If you don't like it, don't look"

I've never had it happen. I never had anyone hassle me when I smoked either.
However, my wife tells me that I look "unapproachable" so that may have something to do with it.

Well, you were at a hospital, so maybe some folks have health at the forefront of their minds when passing by. Some of them might well have relatives receiving treatment for smoking-related illnesses. They see a plume, they react using the patterns and responses they've learned about smoking.
It's ignorance (in the non-judgemental sense of the term). My personal policy is that smug/snarky/condescending gets met with like from me, but I'd prolly give peeps a break at a hospital (trying to be the bigger person and all that).

I hear that when I take my disabled neighbor to her appointments and treatments. I just smile and say "good thing I'm not smoking". I stay a reasonable distance from the door, and vaping outside is not against the facility rules.

I just experienced this yesterday. Was standing outside in a parking lot waiting for an appointment....(I'm always about 30 minutes early for those...old military habit) vaping away, no one around. A got felt the need to come outside to warn me that "that nicotine liquid can kill you if you get it on your skin" and you are depriving your lungs of oxygen which is going to give you skin cancer"
Of course he wouldn't hear it when I explained that since this isn't smoke containing carbon monoxide (which for some reason you're lungs prefer to absorb over oxygen) that this just isn't true, considering you only absorb a relatively small percentage of inhaled oxygen per breath, and that many studies have proven nicotine in the percentages we are dealing with is no worse for you then caffeine and even has some medical benefits.
And get this..... He "knew" all of his info because a) his neighbor who "makes that stuff" told him, and b) his mother died from skin cancer........ From smoking ::

This is a picture from Cuba. This woman who lives in Havana proper and sits in a doorway smoking cigars so people can take pictures of her or with her so they will hopefully give her tips! In US dollars or Convertable Cuban pesos. Preferably!

I am very sorry about your husbands health issues. I do not know if saying "there is no smoking" is really harrasment. Just simply reply that your not smoking.
No one has actually said anything to me yet. I just get strange looks, and I'm pretty sure its because they don't know what I'm doing.

I had one instance at a Walmart, but I brought that on myself, as I was vaping between the olives and toilet paper. But, for the most part, people are ignorant, those who don't understand, what we vapers do and why we do it. Then, when they put a misplaced negative context from the media, then a whole new ugly can of worms come into play. My thing is, if your going to stop your routine to disrupt mine....be prepared to be busy, and be prepared for a fact check!
I was standing outside of a bar/restaurant on Sunday after eating brunch from that place and I was vaping and chatting with my friends. The hostess came out and told me I couldn't smoke there. My response what "but I'm outside... and this isn't a cigarette." She replied with "I know, but you can't smoke in front of the window. You have to stand by the curb." That got me HEATED!!

Then, when someone gets an attitude, walk up to them and let one rip.

LOL, my NEW boss just made a rule that there is no vaping around other employees who dislike it and no vaping at the break table while others are eating. I politely asked if the same rules applied to farting.
