Found out I was asking questions in the wrong forum all day, lol.

Adding a ProVari to my REO collection and having to go over the learning curve all over again (new to tanks, VV, and cartos.)

I've decided on the Black Satin ProVari and a few Phiniac tanks.

Also taking the recommendation on some Boge 3.0 cartos, but this is where I get a little confused. The last time I used anything like a carto, was with my very first Riva that came with a atty/cartridge combo. I remember the awful terrible taste of the cotton filling of the cartridge, which lead me to get a REO in the first place. Are the Boge's filler of better quality? The cartridge's I had looked like they were stuffed full of cotton balls, and you could taste it.

Do I need to worry about what supplier I buy the Boge's from? Not sure if knock offs are being sold by anyone.

Also does anyone have a good place to get a relatively cheap hole puncher for the cartos? I found one for $60.. Some things I'm willing to splurg on, but the same supplier had one for $15 and sold out, so I'm pulling a cheapo on this.

Congrats on getting your Provari and Phiniac tanks! It's a great combo you got going on. It's the only tube mod in my collection too. Another carto besides the Boge SR would be the 510 platinums from IKV. They work really well in a tank.

It's hard to tell how much your going to like cartos. The flavor is going to be slightly muted compared to an atty. Although, cartos will definitely be more consistent in performance.

A cheap carto puncher would be a 1/4 inch self tapping saddle valve that can be bought at your local hardware store. It looks like this:

Anderson Metal 59199-04 Self Tapping Saddle Valve Kit #6488209 at HardwareAndTools.com

It's really easy to put together and will work just as well as those overpriced carto punchers. Just remember when you hear the pop. Then do a full turn and your done. If you overdo it then you risk puncturing the air flow tube in the carto. That will lead to excessive leakage. Which is going to be wasting juice. Had that happen to me a few times and I learned my lesson LOL.
