Getting ready to vape for the very first time... Any must-know things?

Any little things I should know before I start this journey? I've read the beginner guides and stuff. I got a VOLT, 5 pre-filled carts and a sample pack of smoke juice from Johnson Creek!

I did not get sealed batteries with my original order - they are on their way though.

I'll be puffin away in about an hour or two. Just looking for last minute tips or thoughts! Thanks guys. You're all so helpful and nice!

With pre filled cartos, you should be good to go. Those batteries should already have enough of a charge to give it a try. Screw it on and have at it!

If your JC juices are 100% VG then you may have trouble using them in cartomizers. Check if they are (the site will say) and if so, I recommend you buy some thinner juices. I use PG juices with 20% or less VG in slim ecig cartos. The Volt cartos has looser stuffing and may work OK with 30% VG. Volt's own juices are (I think) 20% VG. I keep a carto damp with juice to prevent singeing and I can get a week or more use out of one carto. A simple plastic or delrin drip tip instead of the end cap is easy to remove to add juice or look at the stuffing (lotsa nice colors and types at LiteCigUSA.net). I add juice when the vapor seems light or dry, if the flavor is the tiniest bit wrong-tasting, if the carto is getting unusually warm. Before going out or putting a new battery on or just when I feel I haven't added juice for a while, I look at the top of the stuffing - if it has gone white/light I could add a bit of juice. I use thin clear juices that don't leave residue in the stuffing so after a week of use, my stuffing still goes white as the juice recedes.

For testing juices I recommend a sealed manual battery, standard resistance (not LR) DSE901 atomizer and 901 drip tip (same exact size as I mentioned above for use on a cartomizer). LiteCigUSA.net has the atty and drip tips. Just avoid acrylic drip tips (usually won't fit cartos though those swirl ones at LiteCigUSA.net have thin O-rings and may fit - I bought 2 and didn't try them yet)

Some general advice
(not personal - copied from advice I gave someone else)

Cartridges and cartomizers do NOT last as long as a pack of cigs unless you add eliquid
High VG juices are too thick for most cartomizers and tanks
Auto batteries or any battery with an open hole in the end can be damaged or killed by juice leaks
Manual batteries make it easier to get a good hit
100mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping w/ a standard resistance atomizer or cartomizer
Slim ecigs should only use standard resistance - the hotter LR stuff is for the BIG models
Always charge an ecig on its own charger
never screw anything on or in any further than necessary to connect and work
You need spares for everything
New vapers don't buy enough eliquid

Gosh, it's exciting. Congrats to you. Good idea on the pre-filled cartomizers. Twist one of those onto the battery and take a long, very slow draw into your mouth. Inhale slowly then exhale through your mouth and nose. Enjoy

Try vaping in a still room without air moving to maximize the flavor and experience. Excited to hear how you're doing. Hope you're vaping happy

PS. Get your 2nd battery on the charger asap

I have been vaping for 3 hours straight. Not had a single cigg yet. And usually I'll have had about 6 or 8. I'm almost a chain smoker. I feel that this vapor is 100x's more satisfying. When I blow it out my nose, there's a cool refreshing feeling. It's amazing.

Been vaping like crazy and the carto is still going strong (prefilled vanllia from Smokeless image). WOW. I am in love with it.

I got 30ml of PG based juice. I have 4 batteries and 10 carts (5 pre-filled, 5 blank). As soon as I find a type of smoke juice I love (out of the 10 3ml bottles I have from the johnson creek sampler pack), I will order another 30ml. If I like them all, I'll just order another sampler!

My mom and husband have both tried it and my kids say it smells "sweet, like vanilla". I am so happy to have found this!

Congratulations! And you have juice and supplies. Way to go. Don't spank yourself if you have a cig or two. Some people transition 100% from their first vape while others take a bit. Chances are in no time you'll wonder how you ever smoked cigarettes. You've already NOT smoked 8 of them. That's a huge win. Yipee for you and your family

Yay...what a wonderful read! I tried to get my Mom and Sis on board, Mom chokes and sister just added ecig to her nicotine intake~cigarettes, cigars and an ecig. Oh well, It's working for me!
