Hello,
I've only posted once before about how i was unsatisfied w/ the blu starter kit (battery life, carto life, etc). Well now the thing has totally stopped working. Batteries won't charge from pcc or usb. Instead of trying to fix it, I'm ready to just upgrade to a different company that will allow me to fill my own cartos.

My plan is to order a volt basic starter kit, some blank cartos, and a bottle of e-juice from johnson creek. I have read that the volt cartos may not handle 100% VG juice...does anybody know if that is true. I guess the blu juice i'm used to is 100% VG...I like it and have had headaches when trying njoy (PG?). So now i'm worried that my plan to get the volt and fill it with johnson creek's Red Oak is not going to work. Is there a different cig size/ 808 that is better for vg vaping? any help or experience would be greatly appreciated.

To answer your question, probably not. Vg is thicker than Pg, and all the juice delivery devices can have trouble wicking 100% vg, but that isn't always the case, either.

If you haven't already ordered the juice from Johnson Creek, at some point during the ordering process there should be a "comments" section before you check out to finalize your order. In those comments, you can ask if the juice base used to make your order could be made "cartomizer friendly". If the vendor has the capability to do this, they will use a thinner base to create your juice. Or you can contact them prior to your order and ask if this is a possibility or what they recommend for their particular line of juice.

Thicker juices can also be thinned down yourself by adding some distilled water to the juice. No more than 10% added to the juice can help without disturbing the flavor of the juice.

i'm a fan of the V2 cigs 808's. they seem to have a stronger battery. here's a review i wrote a few days ago.

the thing is i don't think any regular "cigarette ...." cartomizers are full 100% VG. VG is super thick and can clog them up very easily. volt has an 808 "C3 cartomizer" kit that has a good atomizer in it that can handle VG better. they also sell 808 clearomizers which are pretty good. V2 has some clearomizers called "liquiMax" which are pretty good but not as good as the volt ones.

one suggestion before you buy a big bottle of the johnson creek is to buy a few samples of e-liquids with different PG/VG ratios and find your perfect sweet spot.

Trexosaurus, I've been using the Volts since October and have tried a few 100% VGs in them. I've used primarily the Smokeless Image 808 cartomizers, but also a package of Halo G6's. I suspect any 808 cartomizer would clog approximately as easily, due to the basic fiber-fill design. My girlfriend seems particularly sensitive to Propylene Glycol (PG), so I've shopped some 100% VGs from a few vendors. Some are thicker than others. Virgin Vapors advertised theirs as being carto-friendly, and I passed 3 mL of their Lemon Rosewater through a cartomizer without it becoming terribly clogged. Mt Baker Vapors has an option to dilute with 30% distilled water, if you want it thinner but don't want any PG; though, this seems to dilute the flavor a bit, too. EC Blends seemed thicker, but even then I got a few refills out of a cartomizer, so if you're comfortable tossing or cleaning a cartomizer after minimum of 3-4 uses, VG may not be an obstacle. I've not tried Johnson Creek. Also of note, I've primarily used 70% PG or higher, so I'm not a VG-vaping expert.

I've used the CE3 clearomizers from SI with my Volt batteries, and have mixed feelings. They fill with a syringe, which I'm fine with, but it's still more difficult than just dripping into a cartomizer. The flavor seemed a bit better, with sharper throat-hit. One leaked a very little bit, one was wonderful for about two weeks until it suddenly burned out, and the third seems not to wick quickly enough to prevent dry hits. I also think I went through eliquid much faster than the fiber-filled cartomizers.

Maybe there's a thread or two regarding which vendors have thinner VG liquids somewhere out there, if that's what you're into. Personally, I figure I'm saving about $9.00 a week not smoking, so I've spent a few months breaking even, finding out what I like, and am just starting to come out ahead, now. I recall also seeing some threads on ECF about PG-sensitivity that you can check out. Some people reported 50/50 didn't bother them, others went 100% VG. One of my first orders was ten 5mL bottles from ECBlends in varying PG/VG ratios and flavors. Even if I didn't like the flavors, it still gave me a chance to compare the liquid consistency to decide what I like, and that my girlfriend really needed to leave out the PG entirely. At about $2.50 per bottle, they were fairly cheap, so I didn't feel horribly wasteful if I didn't like a couple of them. There are other vendors with similar pricing, that will allow you to choose your ratios, flavor strengths, nicotine strengths in either individual 3 - 5 mL bottles or in sampler packs.

Hello,

just wanted to provide some follow up here. I recieved the volt and have been using it with 100% VG. I'm using Johnson Creek's Red Oak and the volt cartomizers are handling it just fine. I'm pretty sure JC dilutes the VG with a little bit of water which must be why it works and I'm not having any of the problems that I have read from other VG vapors.

Cheers
