If you need to do some repairs or something in there. You need a Vise Grip/Locking pliers, a hammer and something to protect the top cap from the jaws, I used a piece of leather. Wrap the top cap in the leather, position the locking pliers and tighten it down. Hold the whole shebang an inch or two from your work surface and whack the hammer on the pliers. A few good hits should to it, you may need to reposition the locking pliers. Takes a minute or two, tops. Careful if you're not replacing the PCB, the wires are pretty short and you don't want to rip them out.

My son needs to replace his PCB as well, we're hoping to get a video of him doing it. Once the top cap is off it's a cakewalk.

Yeah, it's not too hard. I used vise-grips and a piece of leather to protect the cap and just wiggled it back and forth somewhat forcefully at first but gentler once I felt it giving way. I needed to get mine apart to replace the center pin grommet which got whacked when I let my GF use a 510 to ego adapter on it one day.... I started getting the 0 ohm reading shortly thereafter.

Keep in mind that Hong Kong's time zone is 12 hours ahead of ours (Eastern time). So if you email at 3pm, it's 3am over there. They also seem to be a huge company that deals with a ton of world-wide orders, and therefore have to have people who can answer in specific languages. Not sure how big the customer service staff size is, then how many speak English. Yeah google translate helps, but I don't think they're using a simple translate program because their English fluency seems significantly better than any translate program I've seen.

Not making excuses. If it quacks like a duck... But these may be reasons for things to not move faster. I'm following your posts so there no surprises if I'm in your situation.

Or you can just get one like the one i have which has a factory defect, lol. Thing comes right off no problems. Im sending it in though, been dealing with fasttech's CS, they are kinda slow to respond.

A couple tips for you if you're sending it back and haven't done so yet. Take pictures of everything and don't lose your numbers. The RMA number they give you, the delivery confirmation/tracking number you get from the PO, everything. They might send you the RMA number through a separate email. Don't lose it.
Take a pic of the Vamo, take a pic of the Vamo packaged with shipping label visible even if you have to do it at the post office. If it has the return shipping cost visible, great. If not, take a picture of the receipt. Send all those pictures and numbers through their on-site customer service and wait.
I'm sure if you're getting another Vamo in return it will be different than what I went through with them, but after 14 separate 'convos' (total) I finally got my money back. (It had nothing to do with a Vamo) All I know is they like their pictures and numbers and have ways to ask the same question a few different ways. lol

Good luck. :)

glasseye,

Thanks, I am waiting to send it in till I have an actual mailing address. Today I am officially out of my old house, the parents are on the road to Texas, and I am crashing at a buddies place for a week or two until I can move into the place I am leasing. Once I am moved in and know where to have it shipped to I will send it back.
