What is fluval? Are all new 510 carts using this as filler now?

FLUVAL is the filter material used in aquariums. I tried it before, then tried the tea bag thingy of which I did not get the results that I was looking for. Then decided to order more cartridges and noticed that the inserts were different. That was when I realized my initial mistake with the fluval... I was using too much material. Now I have replaced all my cartridges with it and have no problems.

I would assume that the new cartridges would have them especially the new flat tips (my latest order). I love the flat tips!

Yeah, but I would offer one more bit of advice, I would take it that one step further and go with the GreenCig instead of the KR808D-1.
Hey Snarky, do you mind filling us in on the differences between the GreenCig and the KR808D-1 model when you've had a chance to use it for awhile?

I use both a KR and 510. I ordered a bunch of atomizers for the 510 to be "ban" ready and it occured to me that If I just preloaded a bunch of carts on the atomizers and carried them together, I had a bunch of 510 cartomizers, no dripping mess when out and about. Still like the KR, for example I just flew from NY to Minnesota vaping all the way on a full flight with no one knowing. In this case the lower vapor output was a plus. But now I have 510's ready to go too. Sorry if this is obvious.

Your mom said not to say...
Not at all, you should know by now I am not shy about putting in my thoughts. I will be more than happy to give a honest opinion on the differences between the two. I am already incredibly jazzed at the prospect of having the GreenCig kit. After seeing the good pics of that autopsy of one I was blown away at the technology and the sophistication that the GreenCigs carts had that I HAD TO OWN ONE.

I don't know if any of you have taken apart a KR808D-1 cart but you can see that it is a good deal beyond the simple stuff a rag in it and heat it up approach of the 3 piece units. The KR808D cart looks like a roll of toilet paper on it's side so that the atomizer sticks up through the center of the roll. You fill it simply by dripping juice into the cart as you would if you were pouring a beer with the cart tilted and your are done.

I am really looking forward to the GreenCig and yet I am also trying to temper it with the knowledge that it won't be perfect but it should be a lot closer to the current models I own. That cart blows my mind every time I think about the picture of the "hair" that is part of the atomizer. If you missed it I am talking about the thread titled GreenCig Cart Autopsy that another member was kind enough to put up.

to follow a different track.. perhaps e cigs are not for you.. basically you really have to want to use them.. if you do you will put up with whatever it needs..if you dont real cigs will call you back..

basically you have to want to make the change.. not everybody does in fact i think most normal smokers dont want to make the change.. its okay us lot saying its better for you.. but i do think you really have to want to..

its a mistake to think all smokers want to quit.. most of them dont.. they are happy being smokers.. many will try e cigs and simply give up and go back to real cigs.. its not a will power thing.. but it is something you have to want to do..

perhaps you dont... its not that uncommon..

i gave an elderly neighbour a free kit recently .. she had a go but it was clear her heart wasnt in it.. a result that is quite common.. part of them says they should.. not a big enough part tho... he he

the world isnt full of real smokers waiting to be converted irrespective of what the already converted on here think...

Possibly it's not for me. But, I have given it a serious effort. I know who you are talking about and those people are everyone but me at work who my co-worker has bought a kit for (they get the kit and maybe use it 2-3 days and back to analogs). Now, maybe I am one of them and it has just taken longer (3 weeks). I am not trying to quit. I am just looking for a healthier nic device. I don't know. I like vaping a lot. But, the hassle has been very frustrating for me. I've come to the decision to just buy more 510 atomizers and stock up on them. I also have still not found my flavor yet. Is it not a valid point as an addict to want what you want when you want it? Ya it's frustrating and pisses me off when you counter in learning something new and addiction I don't see how that can be wrong. I am just posting and hoping for a less hassle ecig. It seems this does not exist so the reason I am buying more attys. I tried the KR808 today and it made me appreciate the 510 more.

Ok, my co-worker let me use a KR808 today. Thing is super harsh and little vapor. The taste is better though. So guess I will look into the green. What I think will happen is I'll either go back to analogs or have to bulk order atomizers for my 510. Any thoughts?

I'd guess and it's just based on reading posts here esp. in the new member forum that about 90% of the people with 510's are not having the problems you are. That doesn't mean you're not having problems or that your stupid or anything. Just an observation from bring around since June.

Some of the comments about how ecigs in general are not like cigarettes and like pipes and RYO there are some things to adjust and tweak to get it down. And there are just some hardware parts that aren't entirely standarized although the 510 parts are fairly good, imo. To answer your question, you could probably go somewhere and get a bulk buy on attys and you'll be way ahead of the game even if you go through 1 a week (vs. cigarettes).

My guess is just because your asking and not dismissing ecigs altogther that you'll get it down. Whether it is with the 510 or some other model, but much like golfers changing clubs or drivers to 'improve their game' you might spend a bit more attention on getting the 510 to work for you ;-)

Blow out my mouth all new attys to get rid of the primer/shipping fluid - blow from the batt end into a paper towel until you get no more wetness. This should be sufficient to where any nasty taste is reduced considerably. Load up the cart but don't overload it. Drop 2 drops directly on the atomizer bridge and start vaping. If you're still getting some nasty taste just huff it - puff several times and don't inhale for the first session on an atty. That should really get rid of the shipping fluid taste.

After that, vape as normal but if you find yourself 'power vaping' then you will be vaping the top off the cart and then will get a harsh taste because no more juice is being vaporized. There's still juice in the cartridge but it is half way down and hasn't wicked up to the top yet. That's a direct result from hitting the ecig to hard for too long. And if you have to do that, then chances are you need a higher nic level in your juice. If you would vape it like you smoke cigarettes, you'd probably do better. Power vaping is akin to chain smoking - lighting the next one from the cherry of the last. Most people don't do that smoking ;-)

If you're not getting vapor then you're flooding the atty either by overdripping 3 or more drips on the atty that already may be too wet, or by overfilling the cart which acts as dripping since as soon as you put the cart into the atty the juice runs to the mesh or coil and floods it out.

Having a fresh batt helps on this too except it works against you if you're power vaping because fresh batts eat the juice quick.

To help wicking, the straw mod can help:

Any advice on a good atty maintenance schedule … or any tips???
I have been draining every night with a rolled tissue pushed into the cylinder up to wick – this does a great job at drying out atty – BUT should I be doing this EVERY night ???
Maybe the morning heavy prime up is not great every day ???

Tried doing short daily dry burns +/- 1 second – could be good?

Soaking in liquid every 3 -7 days.
Have tried numerous liquids :
Boiling and warm water – bit worried about boiling?
Coke-Cola – seems ok but ridiculous.
Mouthwash – I hear Crest is good in USA (I found similar here in SA)
Pure alcohol - messed up an atty
Any help welcome ... Ta ...

Hey ... sorry bout jumping on your thread with questions bout cleaning attys.
I did respond to your dilemma a while back ... no too clearly though ...
Try the Janty STICK - seems to be far less fiddly - I have 510 and STICK.
I find the STICK has more vapor - I just prefer the throat kick of the 510.
Carts are much bigger on STICK so less filling.
STICK uses Cheap long lasting batteries – you will need to get a battery charger though – the STICK has built in USB charger – but this makes unit non portable when charging.
Check it out ... worked for me until I tried the 510 and preferred the kick...
Oh yes ... flavors come through better too …
