getting upset about the passthrus

This is the third passthru that died on me, I haven't even had it a month. I RMA'd the last one early January and they sent this replacement and now the new one is dying on me. I don't get a hit from it 90% of the time, i thought it was the carts but I put them on a battery and I get a great hit still.

Manual, it should have enough power. Both prefilled and refilled but mostly refilled.

I just tried it on another desktop computer in my house and it has the same problem.

On some of my cartos I had to adjust so the passthru would make a connection with the cartos

Try tapping the carto fairly hard on a sturdy surface. Battery connection end down. Especially if you are switching between batteries. Some have the tendency to push the contact in the bottom of the carto up a bit. See if you can get it to come back out a bit. If tapping does not work, try a pair of tweezors. JUST DON'T TWIST IT! You want to pull it out just a hair. Hope his works!

Are you using V4L Cartos?

I had the same problem. I used a needle to readjust the center battery connection and moved it up a little higher. Also had to do this with some of my batteries.

Yes V4L cartos. How would I go about adjusting it? You mean on the passthru?

I have tried turning the connection on the cartos to the left so it raises it some as that thread about non-working carts said to do but that hasn't helped.

No the carto's buddy. The center post in the middle of the carto may need to come out a bit. Some batteries push them up farther than they should, making contact with other batteries impossible.

What is the difference in which post you pull down. I have always had better luck with the batteries rather then the cartos. He said the cartos work fine with other batts..so hence the passtru has the problem. Just be gentle ok?
Also I think you should try that passthru with other power sources other then the computer. My passthru just doesn't work as well with my computer (new) as it does with my wall plugs.

Unless the other batteries push the contact post up. That's all I'm saying.

Edit: I've never really messed with the battery end of these things. I always just chalked it up to the way carto's were manufactured. Seems so many I've had have this problem at one time or another. Hope you get it figured out.

I recommend the PT side. Since it seems to be working with the batteries. Also a wall adapter may be better since you are getting the full voltage. Any USB adapter will work.

I understand better now Uba..Thanks. But still after trying the cartos..couldn't hurt to try the batt! That's what I do with hubby..logic then the batt!

They work great when I first get them. They do not look at all dirty or anything, I don't know why they are dying so fast.

Not a problem lol. Sensed we were getting mixed up there. Just trying to get this member up and going. Nothing worse than equipment failure.

I would look at the usb connectors on the computer. I have a fairly high end system with more than enough power (1200 watt ps), but the usb ports only get 1000mah max. You need 2000mah to run it properly. Get a powered usb hub. Pulling out the center post a but as others suggested could be the fix as well.

I havent heard of many PT issues lately and usually its the autos if at all.I think it has something to do with the PT not getting enough consistant power.Try one of those wall plug thingys.

Yeah but why would they would great when I first get them and then stop after while?
