got blu cigs in the mail yesterday...

hmmm so its morning and im smoking a regular cigarrete. 16 hours in... 13 regular cigarrettes avoided. sooo about every pack of electronics I'll probably need 1 or 2 real cigarrettes to supplement. For now.

These things are really hard to get used to. They're really strong and they hit really hard, which is my main problem so far. I shoulda gotten light cartridges i guess, though i don't know if that would change how hard they hit or not. I'll try lights next time i order refills.

The other issue I'm having is learning how to smoke them. Theres a certain way to puff that I havn't figured out all the way yet.... When I get a really big puff of vapor it feels way too harsh, but with small puffs of vapor I'm not getting the "smokey" effect as much, or enough nicotene. When I smoke a regular cigarrete (camel lights) in comparison, they feel like nothing. No harshness at all.

Also I've found i'm only hitting the thing once or twice at a time, but more often. More then that feels too strong. Thats probably why I need a real cig right now... That and I'm switching from natural nicotene to synthetic.

Probably doesn't help that I have a sore throat/cold thing going on right now. Kinda makes it harder to guage...

Any tips/tricks in getting used to these things and smoking them?

I'm new to vaping as well, so I'm sure more experienced members can chime in with a bit more sage advice. I will say though, that it does take a few days to get used to. As a former pack-a-day smoker, I went for high strength pre-loaded cartridges, and found them too strong for regular use. I've since started re-filling spent cartridges with a medium strength juice from Halo. I've also had to get used to the idea of not inhaling the vapor straight into my lungs. Rather, I draw it into my mouth, then inhale slowly.

Congratulations on moving away from analog cigs! It does get easier as you get accustomed to vaping. There's fantastic people on this board who've helped me immensely.

Two things I've found with my 510 since I started, a fully charged battery is better than a half charged battery..more vapor/flavor, less harsh/burnt flavor. I change out batteries everytime my spare gets fully charged. Much better experience.

I also top off my cartridges before they're completely spent..I find when they're almost out, I draw harder, and I get more of a burnt flavor.

I don't have a blu, so not sure how it differs, but I hope this helps.

I hear ya!
It took me a long time to get used to these devices.
I started out with a Green Smoke e-cig with the cartomizers (cartridge and atomizer all in one piece) and was always frustrated.

I would keep puffing and puffing until getting a good hit, then, the crappy
battery (the standard kit ones) would die and I would have to recharge it
and wait! I quickly learned the stock batts where worthless and was insistent on having an e-cig that looked like a real cig.

I learned that the models that looked like a real cig all had their own problem and limitation, even the best of them. They always seemed to crap out on me when I needed them most.

Then I got away from the novelty of e-cig mimicing the real thing and bought a Prodigy V2 with batteries that are easy to find and cheap. Also, it would last much longer and I got TONS more vapor.

I loved it (besides the switch problem, which is another story) and now have retired all my 801, Green Smoke, 808 and other (looks like a cig) batts and went to the more reliable 5V PV's and dripping my juice directly onto a 510 or BE112 atty.

So, with the exception of the eGo, I dont bother with the 3.7V PV's anymore and I left behind alot of frustration.

New to this also but from my experience...

1) Draw on the ecig gently and pull vapor into your mouth and then inhale with your mouth slightly open so you add extra air.
2) If it feels harsh try a drop of menthol/mint eliquid especially if you have a sore throat or your sore throat could be from the change to vapor
3) If you get a hint of burnt top up or change the cart.
4) If cart new or topped up but no/difficult draw then charge/replace battery or atty

Well that's my half penny
I added a few things to Ratrambo's and here are a few more.
5) Don't buy too many extra batteries. You may decide a battery mod is for you.
6) Always have a battery in the charger. If it's green, use it and put another one in to charge. There is nothing worse than an empty/or dead atty, but a dead battery is close.

Higher nicotine strength generally provides more throat hit.
So yeah, maybe.

Also I've found i'm only hitting the thing once or twice at a time, but more often. More then that feels too strong.
Another possible clue that you nicotine strength could be too high.

Probably doesn't help that I have a sore throat/cold thing going on right now. Kinda makes it harder to guage...
Very possible, in my opinion anyway, although I haven't seen it talked about much.
But when I had a cold I found the vapor to be much more harsh on my throat than usual.

The best advice I can add is to start off with as low a nicotine level as it takes to satisfy your cravings. If it's not enough, you can always go to a higher mg. level. I started with 11mg., went to 16, which was too high, then 14, which was still too high. I've been at 12mg. for a few weeks now and am ready to decrease that level already.

Wow everyone on here is so helpful! Thanks!

well I've come to the conclusion that the strength I got was too high. So I'm going to go ahead and order some lighter e-liquid when I get paid.

Also I discovered the stupid foil was getting stuck on the atomizer. That was causing the 'harsh hit/weak nicotene' thing.

For now I'm 50/50 in smoking analog/vape. I just cant handle that intensity and one or two puffs at a time doesn't cut it for my feeling of actual 'smoking'.

Now I suppose I'll be making a post about how to do this refill thing so I can get this started properly... thanks again!

You might find that your best nicotine level will go up and down over the first several weeks, so keep several strengths of liquids with you. Only buy small bottles until you find what is best for you.

Charge your batteries often. You don't have to wait for them to die before you put them on the charger and a fresh battery is always better than one that is half discharged!

Read Wonderful World of Vaping... tons of information!

Good luck! :)

kittysaysmeow, welcome! You may find this sub forum of use for your blu-specific questions:

Blu Electronic Cigarettes - E-Cigarette Forum

I use a 510 myself (highly recommended), so I don't know a lot about the blu, but it looks like there are a lot of people that do.

Vape on, and good luck!
