Hello there boys,
I have been having a problem the past few days, and let me tell you it is vexing.

Basically, I have been getting a really inconsistent fire. For the past two months that I've had it, it has never misfired. A few days ago, it's gotten flakey. Hit the button five times, nothing. Next push - fine. Then all over again. It's driving me crazy. Here are some of the stats.

This mod was actually a gift, so I can't say what the vendor was. Early on, I was getting a hot button issue, and per the forum, lightly sanded the negative post and button. I also applied a small amount of dielectric grease. This did solve that issue. I have been using the same batteries for the past two months, Efest IMR 18650 3.7V Li-Mn and an 18500, same make. I am experiencing the same issue with all the batteries.

As for atty, I am using a Kanger Protank. I just bought some fresh heads at 1.8 ohms, (the rubber bushings on my old heads were wearing down causing flooding.) I was having this misfire problem before and after getting the new heads. I have also had a range of resistances on the ProTank, all with the same issue.

So all of this seems to be pointing to the mod itself, that there is a weak connection somewhere in the system. (I suspect on the negative side, the positive connection is very firm.) I disassembled the entire unit, and with a toothbrush, cleaned all of the threads inside and out. I have examined the negative post and hot spring, and everything seems to be in order. (Negative post not bent, etc.) The only other thing I might suspect is that the batteries are just worn down in terms of their overall lifespan. I would be a little surprised by this, as I've only been running on them for 2 months, but there are not that many variables left.

So thanks to anyone for help on this, I don't want to have to dust off the Volt, but I'm in the lurch here. I also have some new toys coming in the mail, (The Kick, Terminator clone RBA, A7 RBA, and fresh 18650's,) so I need this mod up and running!

I can supply further information/ pics if necessary.

If your meter shows the batteries as 4.1 volts plus, after a full charge, they're probably OK. You need a multimeter if you have an APV, they are only a few bucks and not having one is like walking down main street with a blindfold on - why do that?

Put a good dollop of Noalox on all threads. Clean the top and bottom of the battery, clean the top and bottom of the spring, and the tip of the actuator and where it contacts, then apply a little Noalox to all those areas.

So if you've done that and the battery is good, that doesn't leave much: the internal sleeve of the actuator button, rod, or other type (whichever it is), or the atty connector. A circuit needs two ends and if you've fixed the tip of the button/actuator then the other end might be the problem; or it could be at the 510 connector. Could be something really simple like a depressed centre pole.

You can find what part of the circuit is HR (high resistance) or OC (open circuit) by using - yes - your meter (set to the lowest Ohm range).
