So I just ordered a GG Penelope. I've been watching reviews, how-to's, and other people fiddling with it. One real question i have is this wire that comes with it. is it all resistance wire or is just the middle resistance and the outer edges non-resistance? If I get some resistance wire what should i look for, just a 32awg nichrome or kanthal? I know from searching that the Kanthal wire is almost impossible to find. If i remember someone said to get nichrome 80.. what does this mean??? so confusing, im sure it will all come together when i start rebuilding...

TL;DR Wire for rebuildable atomizers, help!

Although I have not delved into this aspect of vaping yet, the kanthal wire can be found on ebay. Where I have no idea ,but I know it can be found there. And since the wire comes on a roll I believe the wire is all the same resistance but you must buy the right resistance listed. And also from what I gather the amount of coils wrapped determines resistance. Sorry I cannot explain more, dig deeper into the forum and you will find all the info you need :) It takes time ,but once you figure it out it will be well worth your time.

Penelope's come with resistance and no-resistance wire.
Resistance wire being the heating element - No Resistance being the carrier.
The resistance wires used are Kanthal (FeCrAl)( iron chrome aluminium) - (A1, A, D) - US it's easy to get Kanthal A1, Europe, Kanthal A or D, the difference is slight heating and metal amounts.
You can find more on this info searching ECF.
Kanthal is preferred as the coil doesn't pop as often, as NiChrome, although that too can be disputed and is a personal choice.
NiChrome (nickel + chrome) is also a resistance wire, 80/20 means 80 nickel /20 chrome and so on.
The AWG you choose to purchase depends on the Ohms you intend to vape at. And what the atomizer is capable of holding, some require thinner wire so a 36 may be chosen, then the coil might have more or less wraps depending on your Ohms.
(I think, please correct me if I'm wrong)
No resistance wire used can be nickel or silver.
This is used to carry the current to and from the coil.

I'm no wiz at this, just what I've pick up along the way:blush:, I'm sure some more experienced members will help you out better.:)

Get yourself some Nichrome 32 G and 34 G wire. Also get some .999 pure silver 30 g wire for the NR connection. Hopefully you ordered a couple bags of extra wick. If not more will be available soon. Kanthal is generally used for genisis attys. Nichrome is just fine, thats what I use.

Nichrome Wire about 2.75 for 10 ft

.999 Fine Silver 30 Gauge Round Dead Soft Wire .50 a foot

ALSO - watch these two videos - if you dont you will be lost. The one in german - you dont need to hear it, just watch it

What's great about the Penelope , is you can use it as a re-buildable tank , or I use mine as a dripping atty . I just make my wicks longer , and leave them on the outside , then leave out the juice control/mouthpiece . Put your favorite drip tip in the cap . (perfect fit ) and drip 12 to 15 drops , and have at it . good for 15 to 20 minutes , before needing more juice .

question about joining the two wires together, how is the premade wire made, i like the fact that in a pinch i could wrap the wires but how would i make the nice finished fused wires? butane torch and red hot tips? any videos or how-to's on this would be great, however, all i can find is something like electrical wire fusing by solder, i know thats not the right way.... i have alot of time and it just seems like when im just sitting i could be making "premades"

german was great, the first one didnt load on my tablet but i imagine it was close or the same...? and the wicks, if i use cotton can i get a square braid #1/0 ? (of course with proper setup, boiling, drying, etc) would that perform any different that the regular ones on COV.. they seem to be all out of stock whenever i look or else i would go there.

The wire they include is machine crafted. There's a very small ball that you can see where the two wires connect but there's no way you could craft one to that level.

The wires only take a couple minutes to wire up when you're ready to put a coil together and unless you have more than one RBA, it wouldn't save you that much time to have them made. If you were willing to pre make the entire coil, that's a different story.
