Dumb question...just got my first Ody and want a ceramic backup. All that is avail is the V2, I take it do I need to get the V2 housing with it, or is my new Ody I got last week already have the V2 version?

Hope I get an answer quick before they are all gone!

Thanks!

if you just order your ody last week it should be the v2 version hope this helps

Whats the trick to getting this coil to a set ohm rating? Just take the reading on the NR wire or make it then ohm it out? Thought I was making a shorter wire and it ended up with more resistance. Cant even vape it well at 6v. I did the dual wick and cut one off up top then wrapped the wire 5 times. Is this just the process of a noob?

1) No trick.... just consistency.
2) NR - No Resistance Wire is just that... No Resistance, so should have a reading of 0 ohms minus the probe reading.
3) Shorter wire = less resistance.
4) 3 - 3.5 ohms should be prime for 6 vaping.

Thanks. Today is just one of them days. DID and ODY both giving me fits. Made a 2.4V coil and its wont stop flooding out now. Really starting to miss the carto tanks. Guess I need to wrap yet another and take out the second wick. Wish this thing vaped as well as it did with that first coil. It was amazing till I let it sit overnight.

i get my reading with just the resistance wire then bend at the length that gives me the resistance i want, then make my twists at those bends

I measure each length of R wire b4 I cut and log the resistance results. Now I have a log and know just how long I want for what Ω reading.
IMO these make cartos history.:2c:

OMG....I am such a loser. I did get e-mail notification that both the wick and ready wires were in stock...and for that I thank you COV. The problem is that I was already in bed when I got the messages..LOL. One day, perhaps. Thankfully I have some coming from a member who has been very gracious in sharing.

Hey Striker,

When you find what you like just make yourself a template. I just used a magic marker on the back of the plastic wick baggie and drew out some lengths of wire for my desired ohms. I'm doing 2.2ohm coils as they are preference. However in order to do this I aim for a 2ohm coil off the bat as I find they gain .1-.3 ohms resistance in the first day. I assume that's from burn in gunking up a bit.

Depending on how you make your wire joins as well you have to be careful. The resistance segment should only be the segment between the no resistance wires. I keep checking my coil versus my marked baggie as I make them. It's not a bad system and the last 8-10 coils I've made(lots of testing) have been bang on 2.2ohms +/- .1 ohm.

It's all practice. I had a hell of a time with it at first and it wasn't going very well at all. I figured it would be like this with my first rebuildable atomizers. Just keep at it. Eventually it becomes very quick and easy. With all the extra coils I've made and some pre-cut wick I can probably have a new one up and running in under 3 minutes. Without pulling out my multimeter I know exactly what my coil will be. Once you find a coil and wick preference it will be very hard to go back to carto's. Love the flavor and vapor on these. I don't think I could go back to cartos. That being said though I'm buying some other rebuildable options right now as it's way too much fun to tinker with these things.

Thanks EzKill. All I had to do was let it sit for a day. Started using it a few minutes ago and its doing much better. That's strange to me but hey its working. I wonder if I have the correct R wire. Going by number of wrappes. Does it sound like 3.5 wrappes would be around 2.4ohms? If I ohm out 3" of wire I get 5.7ohms. I was told it was resistance wire and thats all I know about it. Its in a small zip bag with no label.

Yea that's a tough one. I'm MAINLY using 34 AWG and that gives me a 2.2ohm coil at about 1.8 inches in length which is about 3 wraps around a triple wick.

It sounds like you are pretty close to a 34 AWG. 34 Kanthal/Nichrome depending on the type is around 20-24 ohm per foot. So at 3 inches 34 Kanthal that I use would give you 5.3 ohms and then you always end up picking up a few +.2 or more as the could breaks in and gunks up. Sounds close. The resistance varies slightly depending on types of Kanthal or Nichrome.

You could use a lot less wire. 3.5 wraps is plenty.

Thats cool. Sounds easy enough. Its working wonders now with the flow control almost closed. If I open it more then a quarter turn it floods. But I don't mind using it as is. Just hope its still like this when I wake up in the morning. That leads me to another question. Should I close the flow control when I go to bed? This rebuildable is the first one I put some of Murdocks juice in. Been saving it for about 6-8 weeks.

does not matter as it does not leak in any mode :p
Mine leaks. Not a lot but I am more concerned that my awesome vape will go away overnight. I guess this is not common. Its happened to me about 40% of the time. Its a monster when I go to bed then when I wake up its fell on its face. Looking for a solution on that. Maybe I just need more patience. Its just like analogs though. When I awaken I want more vape and its not working for me like I said about 40% of the time. I guess the better way to say it is when I let it rest all consistency is lost.

Better idea. Making a video log. What she vapes like before bed and when I wake up. Watch it wont do it for like a month now :)

Yes, you should should close it any time you won't be vaping for a while. And when it does flood, all you have to do is take it off your mod, place a paper towel at the connector end, and blow through the mouth piece to remove the excess liquid. Keep blowing until no more liquid comes out the connector end. It's that easy. My Ody doesn't need much opening either but I think it's because I use a 3 wick coil. You can also trim your wick at the end of the ceramic housing instead of beyond it. This helped with my flooding.

Edit: sorry ...super beat me to it

Maybe I do something wrong??? but I've always had problems with tanks- leaking, flooding, wasting mega ml's of juice. Finally I just went back to dripping. Not near as messy and no more wasted juice. Hate wiping up puddles of good, expensive, juice off my desk or blowing it into a paper towels. Still lovin my drip mode Ody's - all 4 of them.
when you say leak is it leaking or flooding? gurgly or like spilling out? if it is gurgly close the juice flow all the way and vape till it goes away or you can blow it out into a napkin ... lmk what you mean by leaking thanks

I can't actually remember the last time I had a flood on one of Penelope's and I've been using them exclusively for over a week now. No leaks either. I can't really see how they would leak unless an o ring blew out.

I keep the mouth piece full closed when filling. Open 1 twist(not turn) just one small twist and vape for a while. Then apply 3 more twists(again not full turns just small twists) and vape away until tank is empty. Rinse and repeat.

I've been carrying a spare around with me at times and it's not leaked a bit in my case or anywhere else.
