GGTB Woodie

Just finished this guy. Took two weeks of etching the brass and wirebrushing the body, degreasing, epoxy, veneer steaming and wet molding. The next week was 10 coats of my home made gunstock oil/varnish/spirits juice, each dry coat buffed with 0000 wool. Top coat is Johnson's Wax. The veneer is zebra ebony, the varnish mixture is what beretta uses in their fine shotguns. I've been perfecting this finish for 20 years. It dries rock hard

The cup is amboyna burl. End milled and turned

I didn't know you were a turner too! Super cool. I've got a couple of "chunks" of Amboyna burl kicking around... One day i'll get around to using it for something special.

Ha! Super cool pellet gun... It's accuracy is pretty incredible (as well as yours) I imagine the accuracy is only affected by the amount of "liquid courage" the shooter had consumed... Wonder why this tradition never caught on in America?

The Germans love to shoot indoor airguns. The British throw darts and also make some of the finest airguns. All in the name of drinking games. America plays cards, went on to pool and pinball but its all the same, an excuse to hang around with friends, take their money and drink! I can see a pack of Marlboro in one of these pictures. That seems like so long ago

This is a Weihrauch spring air rifle. In the gun world, its a GG.

Handmade, ingenious, indestructible, ergonomically perfect and just a sheer joy of functional art.

Its purpose is to be able to hit an aspirin at 33 feet-10 meters. You play for $100 bucks a round. Now, is when the liquid courage sometimes oversteps its boundries...

i agree that with brass, fatter caps we will have the same diameter to all its length and a wooden PV Torq. Very good looking indeed, I like it very much. The beauty of wood with the strong construction of the GGTB!

I love this thing. I have been testing the finish and its holding up well. I'm going to wrap another in Walnut and a third in Bubinga. Each one i do comes out better than the last. I would love some brass caps.

This is a piece of Amboyna Burl veneer cooking away on the stovetop. The veneer is a little thicker than a mm and brittle so it has to be boiled to soften it up so it will wrap around the GGTB.

My wife did pull rank and threw me out of the kitchen though. Something about Christmas Eve dinner, 7 fishes, ect etc.

I did have time to finishworking on a set of Cocobolo and Ebony chopsticks

After Dinner

Today, we have leftovers and I can hopefully get the veneer boiler back...

Very nice! Brass would look killer in this. I, however like the evo on wood themselves.
I wonder if it's possible to have its color in "natural" state and let the oils from ones hands do the work?
Same way i like my leathers..
