Thanks!

I will start working on the new batch over the Holidays however, we had a bit of sunshine yesterday and was able to take some better shots of the Amboyna one.
The new version will have bigger diameter caps which will transition better from the wood to the metal. Also, they will have the adjustable throw buttons which will rest directly on the wood for a seamless transition between button and wood surface.

Have you decided which wood you'll make mine out of yet :)

I never let you know :)

Fantastic work, and I am honored to be receiving one.

Hey Torqueguy! Are you making more of these for sure?? :w00t:

I saw there will be larger caps for these and a different button? Can I get caps and a button for the one I have already?
What are the details??? Are there wood options, etc?
Thanks!!! ;)

PS - my Pene lives on my Woody TB, she looks perfect up there.

Wood choices are on the first post Blu. Production is limited to 18 and me and ob have already ordered so 16 left...unless I'm forced to get a 3rd lol.

Torque, Imeo said he would make some extra caps for the woodies we already have. But I'm not sure how that will be coordinated. He also said no charge but I will be more than happy to donate some extra cash to the childrens charity.:)

Hi Blu!
So good to see you and thanks for posting that picture. Of all the ones I made, yours had the most dramatic two tone of all. So happy to see that you're happy. I kind of feel like a dog breeder, you know, it doesn't bother me to part with these if I know they go to a good home. I'll see if I have some extra caps when Imeo does the run. Also, if you find a nice piece of veneer you like, I can try it for sure.

I also want to take the opportunity to thank everybody for their support. When you do the math, you'll notice that these things only leave about $100 bucks for my effort. I run a $50M manufacturing company and have been blessed with a good (but very tough) job. I'm certainly not doing this for the money but am happy that from the proceeds, I'll be able to send $25 bucks off for every one to RAMP, the childrens charity in Appalachia. The reason for my involvement in that is this past summer, I opened up a subsidiary in Kentucky. I've traveled all over the world and have seen poverty but when I landed in Atlanta or NYC, I would think, well, at least I'm home and everybody here in the US is ok thank God. Well, they're not. These kids in Appalachia are destitute and some of them only eat one meal a day, the one they eat in school. They don't have coats or warm clothes unless they're hand me downs. When I saw that first hand in Kentucky it literally made me stop and cry, and I'm a hardened New Jersian! All I wanted to do was help. I discussed this with Imeo and we jointly decided on this project. It is for that reason that I am honored to call Imeo a friend and a true human being. We're nothing at all if we don't do something for the kids. Pardon my rant, as you can tell, I am still emotional about last friday.
Thank you all

Torque - I have to admit, and at the risk of sounding biased, I think mine is the best!
I LOVE the wood on mine. It is so unique .... that's why I asked about the veneer, I would like to find something REALLY unique again if I get a 2nd one done. :)

Just a few questions -
What size piece of veneer do you need?
What thickness?
I am guess "raw" or with no paper backing?
Are small burl holes ok, or do you need 100% solid?

I am already looking around, and see a LOT of nice pieces of veneer. :toast:

I'll measure a piece up but 6"x6" should do it. Typically, veneer comes in the thickness of cardboard. The thinner the better for a better wrap. I typically wrap them twice and sand down 1/2 of the top layer. Holes can be filled but I eliminate the crumbly veneers for that reason. Amboyna is the most beautiful in my opinion but it falls to pieces when I soak it down so its really difficult to work with.
Your particular piece was a walnut burl on the dark portion and actually sapwood on the lighter color. Sapwood is just beneath the bark.
This is the beauty of wood, no two pieces are ever alike. It also feels warm to the touch.

Thanks Torque .... the veneers I was looking at said they were 1/42 think ... I am guessing 1/42 of an inch?

Anyway, I was looking at Walnut Claro Burl, Redwood Burl Eye, Pimento Burl, Eucalyptus Burl, or Olive Ash Burl ....
I got a thing for burls.

Are any of those just NOT do-able as far as you know?
