Hello
I wanted to introduce a new gadget for GGTS, which for now we`ve called "a pill".
What does it do ? It allows us to use our ggts as a 5v device, as many people consider 5v to be a "sweet spot" for regular resistance atties and cartos.
All we need is this and 2 X 3.7v batteries for our ggts to provide ~5v under load.
On this photo you can se the yest version, final version will be made of aluminum

How about excessive heat? Resistor may become hot in process, and it is very close to battery. It's about 3v to be converted to heat. How do you solve this?

That will be a challenge. Maybe "fin" the aluminum like a heat sink, but it's enclosed in the tube so there's no air circulation to remove it. I'm looking forward to learning how it is dissipated.

I just did a little reading on the '5v' (actually 4.8v, they're 4 stacked 1.2v NiMH Cells) and I came to the conclusion meh. From what I read the battery life is massively variable (Some people get 5 hours, some an hour and a half), the charger is crap, they might blow up (!), and a whole host of other issues. I'll pass on that, but I like this mechanical resister idea.

The only question I have is why resist all the way down from 8.4-7.4 volts? Why not use a pair of stacked 3v and resist from 6v?

I have never seen one of those batts up close -- are they worth it? Enough long-time power? I know they need a special charger.......

I enjoy them. I get 4-5 hours of good vaping with them. I mostly use them in my Reo Grand with a dual coil. I have 2 of the chargers and one of them doesn't change to green when done but the other does. I just put the batteries on at the same time. I would never leave the house or goto sleep with these charging nor would I with any chargers. I enjoy them but you might not.

its all about personal choices when it comes to batteries and how we use them... for example I wont use any battery that isnt LiMN safe tech basically the AW IMR I was an electronic component broker for almost a decade and the fail rate of IC's is enough for me not to trust protected IC batteries... the LiMN batts solve this for me and although my mAh rating isnt as great with the LiMN type batteries but it solves the issue of exploding or burning should the battery fail for any reason... when it dies it just dies throw it away and go buy some more... but this is also the same reason I only use my GG mechanical mod and drive a 1972 Chevy C20... I dont trust electronics at all...

I dont trust electronics too thats why GGVV will be an add on only Mr. Electronics are disposable items

Exactly Imeo and this my friend is why I will always be loyal and loving to my GG because even if my GGVV should go bad it can be removed to be fixed while I can still use my GGTS at the same time... and is exactly the reason I will never own any other VV mod device...

A man that brokered electronic components for a decade that doesn't trust electronics. That says volumes.
