Ok made a new less fugly switch fo the CHI CHI today, same great voltage under load, but more compact .
I used a slice of brass drip tip and soldered it onto some of the brass rod before sanding and shaping to make a larger better looking button head.

Old Diy next to new Diy switch.

Sanded the battery contacts and the contact area of the switch. My test last night showed no improvement in voltage drop.

Sorry to hear that tc1, I never had any real joy with the sanding the contacts myself, just went for ripping the Chinese mystery metal out and replacing with brass. Sorry if youve got dragged into modding your Chi Chi somewhat reluctantly. if you dismantle the switch itself you will see how feeble the weakest link in the chain is. I did and that's what made me develop the homemade brass switch.

Ummm.....you guys are aware before shipping to the US, this is only an $18.00 mod.

Then again, if you just like tinkering, have at it.

No since in busting on the mod - it is what it is> inexpensive. Any one of mine will get me through the day and after all is said and done, that is why I bought them.

Many Thanks to FullKnight

ECF friends are the BEST. I PMd FullKnight and he pointed me to Hoosier Vapes for the Gold Chrome KTS GG Clone, noting that it is much cheaper when added to the cart. Just pulled the trigger on one at $34.45 shipped. That's cheaper than my Vamo was. This is my first mechanical mod and I am looking forward to my new toy. Also thanks to everyone posting great advice on this mod, it helped a lot in my final decision.

Sanded down the positive contact a bit better and I'm now down to below a 0.4 volt drop. Lol

Do you guys recommend hand sanding these tubes to refinish them or would something like a dremel work well?

I dont use the dremel since most of my heads are small and its to easy to get an uneven sanding. Thats why I stroke it with my hand :)

I wouldnt mind using a buffing/sanding wheel that covers more mod surface and allows for more control.

Put an old carto into the chuck it a drill, screw the chi chi on and spin it up, work your way from 200-1500 grit wet and dry.

GG Original Parts Compatible?

Has anyone tried or know if the original parts from the GG are thread compatible with the Clone? I noticed on the Clouds of Vapor site that they have replacement parts for almost everything on the GG. The only question is whether they might fit the Clone if needed.

I don't believe so. Really the only thing you might need to replace is the switch and you can buy those for a couple bucks at hoosiervapes.

Did some spring cleaning on my CCTS and AGA-T ... voltage drop at the coil is now 0.3 and I feel pretty darn good with that.

Thinking of refinishing it just for the heck of it but not sure if anyone sells the high grit paper around here. Think I'll return the $70 dremel I bought and buy another mod ... lol. Honestly though, doubt id get much use out of it with my mods.

Dremel's are good for all sorts of things. But go to an auto parts store. They should have some of the high grit sand paper. Either that or Wal-Mart or Home Depot/Lowes. Wal-Mart should have the high grit stuff in the auto section. It will be with the bondo and paint. At the Wal-Mart near me, it is in the very back left corner next to the oil section.

I feel like I already got an answer to this question, but I can't find it.

I'm thinking of using efest IMR 18350s in a gold/chrome ChinaGG.
If I want to stack them, do I need to buy another tube from somewhere,
or will the 18650 tube work, if not, will the extra/extension tube at hoosier work?
I need to at least but a 2Cent safety fuse if I'm doing that, right?
I'll eventually get a Kick too, but can't do both at the same time.
I guess the smart thing is to use the fuse even if I'm using it in single 18350
mode too, right?

Also, does button top or flat top matter?

Sorry for the repetitive questions. I just want to make sure I dot all my Ts and cross all my Is.
;)

I believe thats why everybody doesnt mind wrenching on this mod.. because if it were to be rendered useless, at least we only spent peanuts on it.
