Hello there, new here so just saying hi.

Having been introduced to vaping by a friend of a friend at a party last friday I have now ordered an eGo-CE4 kit consisting of two batteries, eight clearomizers, and a bunch of different juices to try.

I have smoked for more than 15 years, which is nearly half my life. This is my serious attempt to make a change for my health. My short term goal is to replace my smoking with vaping, to this end I have ordered juices with high nicotine content. My long term goal is to weave myself of nicotine altogether. I hope this will be possible, I believe strongly that this particular addiction is more about the habit of smoking rather than the actual physical dependency. So hopefully vaping can replace it as a much healthier habit.

I'm awaiting delivery tomorrow and I am very excited!

It will happen Kharok , just be patient & go @ your own speed .
Most of us here probably started vaping to get away from cigarettes !
Everyone is different , but for me , starting @ highest nic level was not as satisfying as a cigarette in the beginning ... I quit smoking gradually , cutting down more & more each day until I was down to 1 a day + vaping , then gave the cigs up entirely . Took me 2 years before dropping nic levels & when I did I found myself puffing more but that gradually eased up as well . For some it may be a quicker transition but i suggest you do what is comfortable for you ... any level of nic in vaping is better than smoking so do what it takes to stay away from the cigs ! The rest will follow :)
I smoked for 25+ years & have been smoke free now for 4 with absolutely no cravings for a cigarette @ all anymore ... if I can do it , anyone can !

I haven't tried the eGo-CE4 but it looks like a MTL tank. The thing for me with a cigarette style draw tank is that to achieve a decent throat hit I need to stay at a minimum of 12mg nicotine level since 6mg has little sensation/kick on the inhale. I'm sure you could still lower your nicotine level with a MTL device or you could try a direct lung inhale tank, which for me requires no throat hit and I can vape 0 nicotine. Also if you run into any issues with the eGo-CE4 like leaking our just not enough vapor, look into trying a different mouth to lung (MTL) tank like a nautilus mini from aspire. Either way, enjoy the benefits of vaping!!!

My 2nd or 3d device was a CE4 (and then eVods etc) after 808-type cigalikes and Boge cartos and the like.

I will say that it's considered to be a *very* old-fashioned clearomiser in this day and age - this isn't simple snobbery and "keep up with the Jones'" (that comes later - LOL ;)), but it is a very low-powered device (5-7 Watts or so IIRC) and has very poor airflow.

There are still many companies still ripping off smokers who want to try vaping by buying cheap, generic CE4 head and 'eGo' batteries for less than USD$4 a set and then palming them off on new vapers, often desperate to quit smoking for USD$30-$150(!).

I hope you didn't get soaked *too* badly on your starter kit, and on your ejuice which is where a lot of 'worlds best No. 1!'-type companies rip people off as well.

If you find it unsatisfactory, don't be disheartened! You can up your nic level and/or change your vaping technique as well as we can point you to where you can get a great deal on some decent kit that'll have some legs to carry you through your vaping journey.

Good luck. ;)

Hi and Welcome! I started with a CE4 clearo on an eGo 650 mAh battery, in fact I still have a couple unused CE4 clearo's in my backup stash. I've gone up the ladder a bit as for hardware, but I'm pretty close to where I was nearly two years ago. You've made a great decision for your life, stick around and to it!

Vaping works for most people to help them quit smoking. You have bought the correct starting equipment. I find that so many people jump into intermediate and advance vape equipment these days and find the leap to be a big mistake.

I also quit cigarettes with the eGo-CE4, with 24mg nicotine. It only took 2 days, but that is because I was SO ready to quit. I hated everything about smoking. I had smoked for 55 years and thought I could never quit. I had tried many times over the years and nothing had kept me off of the smokes. Now I am cigarette free for 3 1/2 years :) I am now down to 6 mg nicotine but I have gotten much better equipment. I am not concerned about the nicotine and so far have no plans to go lower.

Good luck with your vaping journey....I know you can do it

I smoked a pack a day for over 30 years. I haven't had a cigarette since I took that first hit off my iStick 40/Nautilus Mini. Coming up on 8 months with zero cigarettes.

I tried to quit dozens of times (I just saw a study that shows that the average smoker tries to quit over 30 times) and vaping was the only thing that worked immediately.

I like to think that I will quit vaping too, but I am having fun with my new "hobby" and still just happy to be off the butts.

Uhff, I totally forgot about this thread! Thanks for the support everyone!

I am now 17 days without smoking, I went from a pack a day to only vaping overnight and have had no problems keeping of cigs at all, in fact there is an open pack of smokes lying in plain sight in my apartment that I haven't even glanced at for two weeks! I started at 18mg nicotine but has now gone down to 12mg which feels just right, for now.

Until recently I didn't experience any physical side effects, but two days ago or so I started getting very clogged with mucus and my throat gets very dry whenever I vape, so that's a little bothersome. But since I went for two weeks without side effects I'm hoping this is only temporary. I will purchase some more brands of liquids and see if there is a difference in dryness. The ones I've tried now are Hangsen and Liqua which are supposed to be opposites in comp, on high in VG, the other in PG. But I'll see how it plays out.

I never expected this to work this well :)

    Cheers!

    Congratulations, and well done!

As for your symptoms, I wouldn't worry - that's a thing - "quitters' 'flu". As your airways heal, and as your villi (the little hairs in your ENT passages) re-grow, you'll be bringing up all manner of 'stuff' which has been building up for a while.

There are also other chemicals (in the other 4,000-odd in tobacco smoke) that cause withdrawal other than nicotine - you'll be over the worst of the effects of this by now I would have thought.

You probably have already heard this before, but just in case - keep yourself hydrated! It sounds like you've let yourself dry out a bit too much.

You'll be a lot more sensitive to things that you've probably been able to ignore for the years you've been smoking, so listen to your body! :)
