Hi There

I'm a long time smoker, and At my worst I will be near 2 packs a day. After talking to a few people about e-cigs, I finally bought my first one a few days ago. The local gas station where I often bought my Pall-Malls sells the eonsmoke, so I gave it a try. I have not had a real smoke since taking this up, and overall I'm pleased with them. By the second day I bought my second starter kit, because I realized I would need a second battery to use while I was charging.

I'm an inquisitive person and was looking for more information as soon as I started. I guess I also have a fairly decent BS detector when it comes to the internet. So my initial searches for info on e-cigs brought my to "blogs" and sites which were allegedly offering reviews of different brands. And of course every site was littered with ads to those specific brands. So I was quite relived when I came upon the wiki and eventually this forum. I look forward to learning more about this whole thing.

So far in the short time reading some of the info threads I feel it's already helped me a bit. When I first started I found the vapor a bit lighter than I was looking for and found myself hitting this a bit more like a pipe for non-tobacco products, along with holding the vapor for a while in my lungs. I eventually went to slower shallow puffs, and found it better, and having read some here I see I should be looking to go for pretty long soft inhales into my mouth.

So far the only concern is that I'm burning through cartridges pretty quickly. I think it's partially the novelty of being able to smoke anywhere again. Also today I finished my first cartridge since I want to real slow light puffs. The previuous times it just stopped producing vapor. With this one it began to taste like burning papaer, and it wasn't until I took a strong pull that I realized I wasn't getting vapor but was actually burning something.

Anyway, I look forward to learning from this forum and meeting other e-cig users.

Welcome ajventi . Grats to consider vaping to stop smoking. You have finally come upon a legitimate website with lots of real information and informed, helpful people willing to provide support to you.

There will likely be many people along here providing recommendations that they believe is best for you. Their intent is sincere, but sometimes they forget what it was like when they started out. Consider all recommendations carefully and decide what will likely be best for YOU.

Vaping can truly help you quit smoking, if that is sincerely your goal.

Vaping can provide what other nicotine delivery systems can not. E-cigarettes can mimic the hand-to-mouth learned behavior of cigarette smoking that has been engrained into our minds and personalities. Nicotine gum and patches don't do that.

E-cigs can come close to the sensation of cigarette smoke with warm vapor entering the mouth, throat, and lungs. Nicotine gum and patches don't do that.

This can work for you. Just do it!!

Hi Ajventi, welcome aboard. Sounds like you needed to refill the cartidge or cartomizer. The burning taste is from when it runs dry. If you are using a refillable kind you can add more ejuice.

Hello and welcome! Glad you found this place it can be very helpful. I too started with a cheapo and upgraded this week to a more high quality cheapo  Went through the cartomizers like crazy and thought W.T.H. thought it was supposed to be like 2 packs. Which isn't the case. Watched some videos on refilling and have been saving some cash.

This site is amazing everyone is so helpful... Im new myself and have had so many great answers from people on here
WELCOME TO ECF..;-)

I would have to agree. I've been visiting this site for months to help me as a beginner vaper. I'm glad to say I'm cancer stick free for 3 months, happily vaping my Provari, and just recently tried my hand at rebuildable atomizers.... all thanks to this site!

I have to say it's the whole irrational part of the smoking addiction that delayed my trial of vaping. As soon as I first found out about vaping it made perfect sense. I never had luck with gum or patches, because it's the ritual of smoking that cannot be replaced. It made sense a long time ago, but for some reason it's taken this long for me to try it.

My last short term success quitting was last summer when I ended up in the hospital for 3 days and quit cold turkey. It was quite interesting being confined to a hospital bed with nothing to do but feel the effects of smoking withdrawl. (I should post a thread on it)

I'm quite confident that this is going to work, I'm on day four and just this morning have begun to feel the withdrawl symptoms (cough and mucous) but the thing about it is the withdrawl is arguably better than some of the feelings you have when smoking.

Yes I figured that out, and since I plan on refilling as my next step now I'm not trying to get every drop out of these things.

That's good to hear, I'm probably puffing through 2 cartomizers a day, and realize I'll have to start refilling them quite soon. I'm guessing I'll probably end misxing in a 0 nic cart as well. Which probably means I'll also be buying my third battery (perhaps time to try a new model at that).

I actually pulled the first cart I used apart as soon as I finished it, before I had seen anything online about refilling them.

Welcome to all the New Members. I know for me I never would have gotton as far as I have without the help from this group of people. I also wouldn't have all the neat toys to play and vape with. LOL Just take every suggestion into consideration. Vaping is not like an analog. It becomes a very personal experience is the way that everyone is different. What I like may not be what anyone else likes. It's all up to the individual preference. Good luck on your new journey.:toast:
