Glass tanks?

I'm a new vaper, and I got two kits from Halo, the G6 (cigalike) and the Triton. I have several clearomizers, and a ton of cartos. (I tried to order five extras, but ordered five 5-packs...duh!)

So I keep a lot of juice going, and switch flavors every day.

I've been reading about glass pyrex tanks, and I think I would like to try that. (Saw YouTube video called vaping for Dummies that introduced the concept) so I'm not sure what I need to try a glass tank (like from High Desert Vapes, for example -- I really want one of their hand-blown pretty glass tanks).

I have searched the forum a bit, but would someone be so kind as to lay it out for me. Specifically, will a glass tank from High Desert Vapes fit on either of my Halo batteries (G6 or Triton) or is there somewhere else I should order from? Would I have to order a different battery to even use a glass tank?

Secondly, how do I set up a glass tank? I understand the cartos need to be punched...but anything other than that that I should know?

IBTanked makes an excellent pyrex tank....thicker glass than most,,,,very tight seals.

How are you guys generally finding clearomizers vs cartotanks?

Cartotanks generally provide better flavor and vapor production than clearomizers.

This is likely due to the difference in the way they wick e-liquid to the heating coil. Clearomizers use only some string wicks to feed the heating coils, the strings representing a very small surface area.

A cartotank uses a large wad of polyfill material as a wick, and completely surrounds the heating coil, representing a vastly larger surface area bringing e-liquid to the heating coil.

50%/50% and higher VG basically won't practically be usable because the thickness of the juice prevents drawing up through a smaller Inner Diameter. I've used these in everything for filling, crude quick batch measures and depending on the capacity / Whether filling or just need a really good draining you're pretty much set.

I just went through this last month.

Generally speaking, the Triton is not compatible with anything but Halo Tanks. They modified the connector so it doesn't work on any 3rd party tank. The tank may screw on, but it will not fire. There are a few threads on the Halo forum about this issue. So I bought an EVOD VV Twist and some mini-protanks (glass tanks). I then learned how to use variable voltage and recoil the wicks using cotton. It's very simple to do, but you do have to read up on it. I recommend this setup if you want to ease into another setup outside of Halo's world. This will give you the experience of variable volts and the irritation of tanks. The mini-Protanks are fussy but its a great experience in general. Halo tanks are pain-free really.

However if I had to do it again, I would go from the Triton to an Innokin MVPv2 with the mini-protanks. That is, if your willing to take a crash course on variable voltage and don't try to do everything on the first day. So there is a little bit of a learning curve with this setup. Also note, many people have had problems with the iClear 30 tank (plastic) that comes with the MVP (as linked below). Mine will not work and kept shorting out or something. Anytime you put a new tank/head on the MVP, you should press the P and U button at the same time. If you get another ohm setting than the ohm of your coil (like 5.5 ohms) or it displays NON that is bad and something is very wrong. If all this is all too much, perhaps just get a ego style VV and a glass tank. I gave this example because I just bought my MVP for a killer deal $39.99 from Innokin iTaste MVP V2.0 - 101 Vape. It is still available. Its variable voltage and wattage.

Going from the Triton tank to a glass tank is different but it will NOT knock your socks off performance wise. The mini-protank is a bottom coil tank; the "triton tanks" are top coil. Bottom tanks are "cooler" than top coils. I didn't think I would like "the cooler" part but I really love them. The mini-protank are more refined and consistent/cleaner than the Triton tanks; the difference is noticeable but not drastic. After you experience this, you will be able to taste the plastic in the G6 and Triton tanks. But it wasn't until I learned to rebuild the coils in the mini-protank that the performance changed my vaping experience in a very noticeable way. Rebuilding the coils, gives me tons of vapor and the flavor is much more intense.

This has been my experience as a newbie and will be looking into other tank options later. Right now I'm just focusing on juice, but I highly recommend a glass tank. I'm not experienced with carto, but it looks like you already have advice on that.

Ditto Moonswanni^^^^^^^^. I too started w/G6, within a week moved to Triton and then the following week ordered the Triton VV. Halo batts is propritary and you will be hard pressed (and spend quite a bit of cash) trying to find anything other than Halo to fit. I tried adapters and it really didn't work.

After 3 months of vaping I gave myself a ProVari for a present and still use the Triton VVs (I bought another) a lot. Main reason is again what Moonswanni said, many tanks w/Ego or 510 threads are bottom coil and is a much cooler vape. I love warm vapes so it's been a lot of trial and error for me.

Personally, I could NOT stand ProTanks (use a ProTank2 now only for one juice), IClear 30 (don't use at all...total metal taste) and if it weren't for Carto Tanks, my ProVari investment was almost out the window.

Carto Tanks are easy, good vapor and good taste. A few of my juices still taste better with a warmer vape so I use my Triton tanks for those. IBanked "build your own tank system" is easy for a beginner to get started, Baditude and Ocelot blogs here on ECF are must reads as far as filling, swapping and understanding cartos. Good Luck!
