#2 Coffee = good.

A dozen peahens and peacocks are just outside my largest window. The dog is not concerned, they're not cats.

Off to take the dog to the vet, he needs a check up and new heart worm/flea preventative. I may skip the flea medicine and just get the heart worm stuff, his last (new, improved, best you can buy) batch made him ill so I looked it up. It has killed more dogs than all the reports of Chinese made chewy treats and food. The Chinese edibles made the news, but no mention of this evil heart worm and flea medication. For those interested, I'll give a follow up when I'm back.

Other news in things not working, I can't get the USPS site to work to pay for postage on a priority mail box. An essential drop down menu won't drop down, the postage rate increase today should be coincidence but it's ironic that rates go up while service declines. Going to do this in person (while losing the online discount) and find out "what's up with that".

May you all have a better one. :)

The flea medicine thing is a difficult issue. I too, always gave my dog the 'best you can buy' stuff, and he tolerated it well until he got older/weaker. His last year or so, he would really get sick when I applied it, so I stopped giving it to him. I figured he would not catch fleas anyway, as he didn't go out much at that point (just back yard and short walks)....nope, he did indeed get fleas, for the first time in his life. From that point on I just 'managed' the flea situation with lots of washing/baths/laundry etc... Gah, damned if you do - damned if you don't. I hope it works out for you. Not a fun decision to have to make.

The more "You" post about "Your" Past and Health - It seems "We" could have been twins . . . ;)

( Sometimes, when I cannot breath standing near someone - I actually tell them if you need that much cologne - YOU REALLY NEED To take a Shower ). . .

Well, hey, I've always wanted a brother!

I could not agree more about people who wear too much cologne or perfume. In fact, every time someone brings up the issue of banning vaping in public, I tell them that they will have my support when people are legally forbidden to polute everyone's air with gallons of perfume.

Yes, I'm interested. My dog is due for the annual visit in a couple of weeks. Is there a particular brand that is a problem?

#1 Good morning. I am glad to be back. I will explain why I have been MIA...

I've been wondering what you've been up to, Rich. I hope everything is okay!

I'm still struggling this morning. I'm very grateful that Costco sells tissue in bulk--I'm really going through them quickly. I'm about to head out to the pharmacy so I can start antibiotic course ASAP.

Have a good day, everyone!

I always used Advantix, which my vet told me was the best brand. I remember that it was pricey. Also, I remember hearing about the same issues with the other top brands like Frontline and Advantage, as well.

Well - "MoringNite" - "Tree People" . . .

Start of a NEW DAY . . .

Time for - COFFEE

Same here. I started smoking the same time "childhood" (adolescent) asthma declined. I could be wrong, but I think it was a coincidence of timing.

Well - Although there are a number of very heated discussions around ECF that I refused to get into . . . From "My" research - There actually seems to be a real correlation to the affects/effects of Nicotine (the "Drug" - Not smoking) being used to help those with "Asthma" - as with so many other health problems too, including "Depression" ("MAOI's - including other Mental Health Issues), "MS", "Alzheimer's", etc. . . . AND - Now possibly "Diabetes" too . . .

For those who maybe interested in more inoformation concerning this issue - Please do your own research to get informed about this subject . . . Here are just a couple of links (to articles - not scientific studies) to give you an idea of what information is out there and help you along the way:

That is good information. I guess I'm not surprised, because I remember my vet telling me that the cheaper stuff that they sell at most retailers was just not as strong as the higher priced kinds they sell at the offices of the animal hospitals. Maybe it is just 'weak' enough to get the job done, yet not harm the dog.

One of my dogs had a problem with the flea stuff my vet gave me, but the last time I bought the cheapest one wallyworld had . It worked fine and no reaction from the dogs.

#2 The postal worker had nothing to say about their website not functioning. It's out of their hands and I didn't expect them to care, I just thought they would have heard about it by now. Other shipping woes, package mailed from Cali 10 days ago still has not arrived, FT order from Dec 25th sent via Sweden post is MIA, last seen 2 weeks ago, another sent via HK post does not show any tracking, shipped 8 days ago. Just when my faith in various postal methods was on the rise...

Trifexis. 700 deaths blamed on it, the drug company finds no correlation after studying 3 cases. My vet was not concerned either. I'm going with a simple heart worm medication this time, it's half the price. If my dog gets fleas I'll worry about it then, the idea of a pill that kills fleas currently on the dog is pretty scary if you think about it. Unrelated, my dog did not care for having his blood drawn or a thermometer going in the "wrong" hole, but didn't mind the rabies vaccine. I doubt he wants anything going in any hole for that matter, poor guy yelped like a baby.
