Your USPS tales of woe are legendary! Interestingly enough... I once had a package ship from Washington that showed up at my regional post office, and some how, for some reason, got diverted to Puerto Rico before making it's way BACK to the same regional office and then on to my local.. Strange doings going on in that delivery company. Very strange indeed!
I've heard other stories of this happening--for some reason, sometimes things get mis-routed to the "Cataño Sorting Facility." So, if you've had mail that took a little side trip to PR, let me fill you in with a bit more information. Cataño is basically an industrial area, although it is right on the beach. It's best known as the home of the Bacardi Rum factory--maybe everyone's lost mail took a tour and sampled the free mojitos?
I'm at war with a vendor right now who charged me for Priority shipping on two separate packages (neither have arrived), but shipped First Class anyway. I had to nag them for a week to get a tracking number--when they finally sent it to me I could see from the USPS site that they used the cheaper service. To be honest, I usually choose First Class when given the option because it arrives in about the same amount of time. They didn't give me a choice--Priority was the only option. In this case, since one of packages may well be missing, I care because Priority mail is automatically insured--first class isn't. I'm hoping that they will do something to make up for this, but right now I'm pretty ticked off.
I'm very relieved, though, that by far the majority of vendors don't do business like these people. In fact, it's worth a shout out to GMO who bent over backwards to work with me on my order--that's what we call good customer service!
