dang JP,that just sounds fishy to me but they have ya by the cajones.That would have been the first thing for them to check,filter and fluid base color in the pan AND look for broken metal teeth/shavings.For them to quote ya 300 then drop a nuke on ya @1600 is questionable and suspect.I am guessing they had the rig when they quoted ya 300 correct.?

on a side note here,been popping on and off ecf but also wanted to wish Mr.G well.....

Thanks, Uncle, for the link to the explanation of the ECF mess. I read a bit of it, and I'll probably go back to it.

I had total bust of a class today. My students were supposed to be delivering speeches, and I usually grade their outlines on my laptop while they speak. Unfortunately, in the middle of the first speech, I got a popup window from Windows telling me that it was going to restart in 15 minutes. It didn't give me a choice in the matter (I'm wondering if this is a "new" thing in Windows 8) like it does in earlier versions of Windows. I told my students that I needed "five minutes" to restart the computer. After we sat there for 25 minutes, and the computer was still updating things, I finally dismissed them. Microsoft can kiss my .... today.

The shop its at is giving me a good price. My regular mechanic is Wifey's cousin and he hooked me up with them. They already tried replacing something that would've only been $300 but when they pulled the pan off it was filled with metal shavings.

No better deal than when it's a family friend. And that totally sucks, car repairs are never fun.

Really wish I could tell Ya' and everyone else more - But Is He Doing - "Great" . . . Simple answer - NO . . . Not yet at least . . . AND - It is going to take some time to recoup too . . . SO - KEEP those "GOOD VIBES", "Thoughts", and "Prayers" a coming his way . . . I am hoping to be talking to him personally soon . . . Also - I will keep everyone in the loop about whatever I hear . . .
