It's been a horribly stressful day. Some of you might recall that I had to go to New York for a couple of days last month for an appointment. It was a medical appointment to get a refill on a "controlled" medication that I take every day. After my last doctor here retired--the third in
three years--I decided that I had finally had enough of trying to find a new doctor. So, I returned to my "old" doctor in New York. The problem is that here in PR, doctors need a special Puerto Rico issued license to write prescriptions for controlled substances. Obviously, my doctor in NY doesn't have a PR license. So, I send the prescription to my SO in Minnesota who gets it filled and then mails it to me (yes, just to be clear--patient from PR goes to doctor in NYC to fill prescription in Minnesota).
Anyway, to make a long story short, I've been trying to coordinate the filling of my prescription all day so that my SO can get it in the mail before USPS closes. So-called "Express" is always "two days" to Puerto Rico, which means it won't arrive until Saturday. The last time I had an Express package due for delivery on Saturday, the mail carrier lied and claimed that he tried to deliver it and no one was home (I was home--sitting five feet from the door all day). All this creates way too much anxiety!
I'm sorry for venting. . .
