#2 Just an fyi: most servers are also not offered any kind of health care (the exception being corporations like Chili's and Applebees), sick leave, vacation, or any other benefits. If I want any kind of time off, I have to find people to take over my shifts, and take the hit for losing those shifts, so it really costs me to take time off. If I want to take a week's vacation, I lose a week of pay. As a consequence, I don't take very many vacations. As a matter of fact, I've taken one vacation in the last 11 years. That's a long time to go without getting any time off. Even when I was pregnant, I worked right up until the week before my due date, and went back as soon as the doctor said it was okay. It's no wonder servers get burnt out. I think I may try to take one this year. I need it.

Yep - I can honestly say I see both sides and I remember that each and everytime I go to any place I eat and am served by someone . . . One of the major reasons, I still do TIP Well, even for just GOOD SERVICE . . . AND - I even tip on the "Whole Check" when I use a coupon (2-4-1/percent off) or go in during "Happy Hour" and they offer half-off all appetizers . . . Do the same to make sure the server is properly TIP when someone else is kind enough to pick-up the check too . . . ;)

Matter of fact, I hear "You" load and clear . . . BEEN THERE DONE THAT . . . Well except - having a baby of course . . . I even worked 2 Jobs at one time - when I could - one to subliment the other when I wasn't earning enough . . . AND - Any job I had in the FOOD service professions, only paid $2.00 or less an hour - So never had a vacation (unless someone else paid for it, including "My" bills which only happened once in 26+ years), could never really afford to see a doctor/dentist regularly - unless it was at a Health clinic, and as for getting sick - what was that - "You" had to work though any illness (including those that were communicative - like Colds/Flu; Bad Backs/Pulled Mussels, etc.), espcially if "You" wanted the "GOOD SHIFTS" (Talk about the politics of waiting table/bartending - so don't get me started about the "hair-brained" and big breasted "little girls" that were able to get away with anything and that never did any side-work, because they were always flirting with the male managers {BTW: the same could be said of the "pretty-boys" if he was GAY) so they could get the better shifts at some of the places I worked) . . .

AND - While I did make GOOD Money in TIPS at the time - they weren't always steady, so the money I earned mainly went for Rent and basic living expences first - before anything else . . .

Just Sayin' . . . ;)

4: And that proves Uncle that people do not think logically. If people took the time to think about some of the things others go through or how things are happening to people in different ways of life/tragedy more people would be more kind to help/tip others.

People Thinking Logically Or Better Yet - With The Sligtest Compassion, Instead of being so self-centered and egotistical about themselves . . . DON'T GET ME STARTED . . . Since - That would take a whole weeks worth of post, we would reach 2000 post to fast, and the Thread would definitely be closed - I just might be "BANNED" too . . . Just Sayin' . . .;)

4- Tish I feel your pain, I always tip to what the un-discounted price would be. People who are not working in food service have no idea how hard it can be. I remember my X getting negative checks at times due to having too many credit card receipts.
Then there is that thing with a lot of the cooks and wait staff feeling that they have to always hate each other and stuff. I have had some of the old ones that were like that at first, but once they understood that my main goal was to ensure they made as much as possible, they changed attitude quite fast.
I was a cook that always took an extra couple of seconds to make sure the plates were perfect, and had a wait staff that would move with me from place to place. We make any restaurant we worked at lots of money, and of course we all made great livings as well for what we were doing.
But those days are behind me, now I am a nerd, and looking at going to school for a few more years to get more certifications to be able to make great money even while being labeled as disabled.

5: And from the VVV thread to here, we have run around the circle of life. Again I am glad when people give their thoughts/opinions on things. I like to hear it as it helps me think about something I have not thought about before. ;)

Good night all, work tomorrow. sleep well.
